E3 - Star Control: Origins [Videos/Screenshots]
« on: June 14, 2018, 08:52:28 am »

Phew, what a crazy last few days it has been. Xenocidal aliens[ with superiority complexes are nothing compared to E3. Our lead producer Patrick Shaw took to the stage with Sean Plott at the PC Gaming Show last Monday.

You can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5j0NKjLBQ7Y

We also had a new trailer shown off in the show for E3.

You can watch it on its own here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-EnCjcxsJE

And last, but not least. We have more tasty screenshots from the E3 beta build. For a change from my usual unique style I am also going to post these in their full HD glory (although not 4K because we're not insane here... okay maybe a little).

Here we go...

Certain events will trigger cutscenes... here's one of them when you discover one of the abandoned Lexite structures.

Hyperspace... and I only now realize that I left the gas on.

I'm also going to need you to go ahead and come in on Sunday, too...

Visuals improve on a nearly daily basis.

Insert something about the ugly duckling here.

UI refresh is in full swing. Here is a look at selecting modules in outfitting.

Sometimes you need to commit vandalism to do a good deed... or not.

The only limitation is your imagination... oh and your RUs.

If you have any questions about the E3 event or about anything in the screenshots feel free to reply to this post.

See you soon guys!

Those Lexite structures look really impressive. Let's hope that they will be willing to help us against the Scryve (maybe that was the reason why they left Earth?). That is, if they're not extinct, like a certain other Star Control race that left Earth en masse before the humans developed FTL travel. Wink

I really like the style of the Lexite trailer. Some of your previous videos made me worry that SCO is going to be too silly (with the Mowlings worshipping "Jeff", and the Tywom saying "half of our ship just fell off" - I guess the Tywom like to exaggerate?), but this new video captured what I want from SCO perfectly in terms of style.

I wonder why the Mu'Kay keep reminding me of the Supox, even though they're not plants, and they're aquatic. Must be the shape of their face, and their general cute, "flowing" appearance. The Mu'Kay voice sample that appeared in this video just reinforced the association with the Supox in my mind. Smiley

Well, they only left after Humans developed FTL. They just took the knowledge of the science behind it with them.
They were (and are) Humans. They were just stripped of their rights by religious zealots, who wanted cheap slaves...

I wasn't criticizing the Androsynth story, I was only wondering if the Lexite story parallels it in more than one way.

The only parallel is that they left. The rest of it is entirely different.

And I was citicizing naming the Androsynth "non-humans".
Lorewise, the Androsynth were given this name by a religious zealot, to mark them as lower than Humans.

That's how discrimination starts and gains support....

Ah, sorry, I meant nothing of the sort. I didn't even use the word "non-human". You may substitute "humans born the old-fashioned way" where I said "humans" then. Smiley And if anything like the Androsynth (or even the Lexites, who are far more alien) appears in real life, I would fully support them having full citizen rights.

(Yes, I guess that the Lexites are not extinct, since their ship is in the Fleet Battles beta). Smiley
