Title: Fist Post, With a strange idea Post by: wyrinn on August 18, 2003, 01:45:17 am Ok first of id like to say that i love this re release of sc2 in this UQM format. I must thank all that have worked on it.
Anyways ive read alot of the fourm the last few days in between hyperspace travel, and i decided to put my 2 cents in here with a idea (i also have a question that is rather strange but ill put it into another post) Ive seen alot of talk about Sequals (overiding number 3) to UQM but i have not yet seen anyone talk of a Prequal? What i saw of SC1 it was like a historical database of battles in the war, i did not see alot of set plot line as the battles you played could go either way. now it has been upwards of 7 years since ive played SC1 so my information may be inacurate. My thought was to use the SC2 engine to create a Prequal. but this time play as the Heiarchy (i probably mis spelled that sorry if i did) Im not sure how you could get around the whole Precurser vessal thing but perhaps you could do something like the sa-matra before they knew exactly how to use it. Like in its infancy, the game could base apon a quest for more information on the sa-matra. Anyways im not meening to start a argument or anything like that, some people i have noticed do get angry at ideas every so often, but i thought i would toss this up here. i am enjoying this new to me release of sc2 quite alot. and again i thank all that work on it. My only wish is that i had more of a knowledge of programing to help with the project. Anyways i will sign out now and post my weird question in another post. Thanks for listining to my rambilings Wyrinn Title: Re: Fist Post, With a strange idea Post by: PakoPako on August 18, 2003, 01:54:34 pm Gah. The AI feels smarter. ::)
Or maybe I just forgot how to play. >_< I can't wait to see the "profiles" get implemented in Melee mode. (Hit Button "C"..) Quote What i saw of SC1 it was like a historical database of battles in the war Didn't the subtitle to SC1 say it was like the 4th Chapter or so? It probably was pointing out the various Full Game scenarios though. The "Kzer-Za Side Story" is an idea. Depending on how far you wish to go back and how much you want to flesh out the scenarios in SC1's Full Game mode... You could be playing a la SC2 fullgame, collecting Battle Thralls instead of allies, or just create an expansion of SC1's Full Game where you had to build mines, forts, et al. -=PakoPako=- Sorry if I'm still at a zooplankton level, but even as an alpha, UQM kicks the butt of aliens that don't even have butts. "Star Control Famous battles of the Ur-Quan Conflict" "Volume IV" Title: Re: Fist Post, With a strange idea Post by: PakoPako on August 20, 2003, 12:50:18 pm Yes. Thank you.
Does anyone here know why it was subtitled "Volume IV"? -=PakoPako=- Title: Re: Fist Post, With a strange idea Post by: Novus on August 20, 2003, 02:12:17 pm Quote Yes. Thank you. Does anyone here know why it was subtitled "Volume IV"? This may have something to do with the original Star Wars being "Episode 4". Maybe Paul & Fred were thinking of doing a prequel or three. Title: SC1-Volume IV Post by: Krulle on August 20, 2003, 02:27:55 pm Quote Does anyone here know why it was subtitled "Volume IV"? From http://www.star-control.com, Melnorme-> History -> Fred Ford Log -> Onwards to the next page (http://www.classicgaming.com/starcontrol/history/fford2.shtml) Quote : Star Control's sub-title was "Famous Battles of the Ur-Quan Conflict : Volume IV". Where did the four come from? Were you planning to do : a George Lucas and go back to make prequels? Or was it merely a : reference to the whole Star Wars gimmick of starting with the second : trilogy? Yes, we were just giving ourselves plenty of elbow room to torture you guys with sequels and prequels.
