Title: A new messege for all "helpers"...
Post by: Deep-Jiffa on August 29, 2003, 05:13:28 am
and one for a real helper. Thank you  8)meep-eep 8) for trying to help me even when it is unoffical version. I won't reply my last messege because you don't worth it(not meep-eep). Was it so hard to give me a url and tell me to save it as starcon.key? Ofcourse it is hard! So you prefered to give me long instructions about cvs trees and long *****. Can't you spare half minute to write a short messege with the easy instructions instead of sending a link to the hard one?

So let me get this straight:  You bollocks up your installation, refuse to read any of the freely available documentation on what can be done to fix it, demand that people you don't know take time out of their day to send you files that you could trivially obtain yourself with minimal effort (and without bothering anyone), and then have the audacity to tell us off for not helping you to your satisfaction?

Words fail me.

No I ask them nicly to help me but they send me to unknown documents with no explainations. Then I am feeling despert so I ask them to send me the files. Still no good. Then I am getting mad. Then a nice guy called meep-eep comes and explain me what to do with the documents. So the point is... well you got the point.

Btw- now you send me the link!

The documents were the explanations. Maybe you should have read them; it would probably have required less time than writing tons of messages complaining about other people's laziness.

I also disagree with your use of "nicely".

It's all there; we've provided all the links you need. How can it be so difficult for you?

I get the point. Obviously, you don't. Maybe you should spend a minute a so looking for the files you seek on the web before wasting your time and others' by repeatedly whining on a discussion board. You're acting like a paying customer who's received a defective product, when you've taken something for free and broken it yourself.

At least you had the sense to thank Meep-eep, who seems to be almost too helpful (if such a thing is possible).

Now, could you please stop your childish ranting or at least learn how to spell? We appreciate constructive criticism, but your badly written accusations hardly qualify as such.

Excuse me that I don't speak english like you all. What to do, we are not ALL from u.s, uk or any other english speaking country. I will not continue to argue with you all. Someone else helped and it solved the problem. Thank you umgahbob.

About the documents, I read them and no where there says to save it as starcon.key, only cvs jibrish.

I can understand Depp_Jiffas' frustation. It's not easy to use the cvs stuff if you're not native english and not in america (regarding the language and the speed of the connection).
I tried to get used to cvs myself when the project startet. After a short time i gave frustated up.

Although frustation is no excuse for being offensive and rude when someone points to the FAQ, even if you've tried to read it several times and some other 10 posters told you to read the FAQ. Especially if you're using a written form of discussion. If you're frustated or angry it's not a good time to post replies to the answers others gave you. It would have been better if you had waited an hour after reading them and afterwards write and post your answer.

I can quote so many explainations why I have the right to complain, but it will take 4 hours or some.

Hmm... Back from my vacation, and things seem to be going on as usual over here. People complaining and steadfastly refusing to do anything themselves. Yes, it is a lot nicer if someone explains everything to you in detail, and fixes it all up for you. However, in real life we are sometimes forced to do things ourselves. Either that, or rent a butler.

Look Deep-Jiffa,

I can understand your frustration, and you are right when you say that it would be simpler to give you a straight answer instead of sending you links to documentation.

But please, stop whining man... You have your problem solved, you already thanked Meep-Eep, discussion over.

Come on... lets talk about Star-Control... ;)

I think all parties have had a chance to say what's on their mind.
A flame war adds nothing to this board, so I'm locking this thread.
Starting a new one about the same subject is not appreciated.
