Title: Slow auto-pilot
Post by: Young Sul on September 11, 2003, 10:12:03 pm
Hi!
I'm finding warping from one system to another to be soo slow. Not in a bug kind of way -- it just takes longer than I'd like for the ship to get where it needs to go,

I've read the manual, and don't see any flags that would help me.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks!

Sell all but one of your turners right away and put them into thrust. You'll get where you're going, but you're going to get intercepted by nearly anything that gets in front of you (since your manuvering sucks). Also unadvised for those that like to use the Vindi as their primary S-T-S ship.

You can sell the ion cannon, you can sell the cruiser... that will net you 3100 RU, enough to max out the thrusters. DO SO. Once you've mined a bit in Lyrae and Centauri, THEN rebuild your defenses. The game gives you that long before the harrassment gets going.

And ofcourse fwiffo is all you need until you finish mining.

P.S sorry I know I should have modified the last post but this is about whole diffrent topic. ( I should open a thread)

It is sad you can sell fwiffo but then if you buy another eluder ship instead of fwiffo's ship, the captian won't be fwiffo! :'( I think the programmers should change the game by:
(1) You can't sell fwiffos ship.
or
(2) You will always be able to build 1 eluder ship (with fwiffo) even after what happens to the spathi. And ofcourse before the first spathi ship will be with fwiffo  :D :D :D

Actually it always quite annoyed me that I can't just get back the pkunk I just sold. The captain is at the starbase, and Hayes said it's the only problem, because reverse engineering is alway possible.

Also, It would be nice to make fwiffo into a device when he's on board. Like the talking pet. You could just choose him from the device menu and discuss the ultimate evil...
Maybe I should start a thread on this?

Simple solution. When you discontinue a ship belonging to an allied race, the captain and native crew of said ship simply board a secondary transport shuttle either stotred in their craft or provided by you and return home. Afetr all, they aren't allied with you, so I imagine they wouldn't be anxious to stick around your starbase after you no longer need them. Pkunk can probably just kill themselves and reincarnate back home. ;)

Since you guys are sharing private messages anyway, why don't you use the private messaging service provided with the board?

Just a thought...

Why would you scrap the ship completly? The Pkunk provide you with materials equalling their ship and just fly their own ship home.
Although I'd like to know where Fwiffo goes to?

Maybe he is the founder of the BSS? That's be neat.
Okay, i need to learn how to code some gameparts until 1.0. Afterwards i should add his BSS. (give him a year or so to discover what his brothers did, then try searching just beyond the range of the most sensitive spathi sensors for him).

Fwiffo is a nice little clam, and fun to talk to, but there's no way he's involved in the BSS. If he was, we wouldn't have seen him on pluto, because that was an official posting, and the BSS were renegade.

Also, Hayes heard rumors about the BSS when he served in the first war, before even meeting Fwiffo.

That's true, but sometimes no roguesquadrons exist. But if new ones are founded it is sometimes easier to use a well known name for it, since it might get you more supporters (and builing an interstaller fleet needs a lot of these).

And i guess some of the BSS-people would serve in the normal Spathi fleet to ensure a grip on some new technology or just for information what's happening around. (Sort of  spy.)

I would laugh so hard. Picture it all:

"Gracious Hunam captain, I must beg of you to return to Spathiwa before the Ultimate Evil returns! The Safe Ones made certain to tell all of us to come protect the homeworld!"

*reluctantly, you let him go*

3 months later, you see a strange ship flying around in Hyperspace as you pass the ex-Spathi sphere-of-influence. It catches you, and hails you. A Black Spathi stares at you with a cold gleam in his eye.

"Hello, my old Hunam friend!"

I think I'd crap myself. :o

Hmm, perhaps Fwiffo is the long-lost brother of the captain of the BSS. Perhaps you have to show him to the captain to get them on your side. Just an idea...

Would Fwiffo remember his siblings' names?  He's got a lot of them.

They might remember his -- after all, his mother DID say his name to him personally, once.
