If you go back a few pages on this board, you can find Mark Vera's addon that has a new Pkunk resurrection sound.

Nowhere yet. It's not long wait anymore for the release of the package. But I won't say any dates as there is none set. "When it's ready" is the date.

I'm waiting for UQM:The Original Soundtrack.
Seriously, some of the tracks i've heard are of great quality, when the remix pack comes out I think some of us will make ourselves (with said authors permissions) audio CDs to enjoy when not near a computer.
Well done on what you've already made.

a lot of good remixs arnt in mp3/wav format, and cant be read by cd players.

Find something to convert them to mp3/wav, then. There are tons of programs that serve that purpose. Modtracker being my prime choice and Goldwave for anything the former can't handle.

A simple rule of thumb: if you can play a file in something like Winamp, DeliPlayer or XMMS and the visualisations work, you can change the output plugin to WAV file writer and get a file that you can burn to CD.

I recommend using ModPlug Tracker/Player instead of Winamp to convert Soundtracker modules or related formats (MOD, S3M, XM, IT et.c.). Winamp's module player plugin has been seriously buggy in some versions of Winamp 2. Winamp 3 may be better, but I haven't tested it yet.

What's the filetype (extension) of that particular track?

Try XMPlay. It plays MOD, XM, IT, etc.. with very good quality. XMPlay plays mp3 and ogg too. So it's not just for mods. It has diskwriter to output the sound as wav files for cd burning.

Also if you want same quality for MOD playback as UQM, you should look for player which has MikMod as the engine. I think there's Winamp plugin for that.. but I'd install Oldsk00l plugin for MOD playback (it doesn't play XM/IT, and Winamp sucks with XM/IT, so use XMPlay for those).

Winamp5 will have direct cd-burning capabilities I recall, so you could burn the audio cds from there directly.

If you're referring to Ringwraith's Thraddash mix... Well, it's in Ogg Vorbis format, so Winamp, XMMS, oggdec, ogg123 or whatever you're playing on should have a WAV output option.

Most of the time, you should be able to work out the file type from the extension (if your system is hiding file extensions, like Windows does by default, you should unhide them). Here's a list of common file types and my recommended converters:

  • MOD (and other Amiga formats): DeliPlayer, Winamp with Oldsk00l plugin, ModPlug.
  • S3M, XM, IT, other PC trackers: ModPlug.
  • OGG: oggdec, ogg123, XMMS, Winamp.
  • MP3: mpg123, XMMS, Winamp.

A fair number of the MODs (Druuge, for instance) violate the old Amiga ProTracker constraints on things like ranges of notes.  Extremely strict MOD players may choke on them as "invalid."

what can i use to convert thraddash remix (ogg vorbis file) to mp3 or wav format?

I prefer Audacity (http://audacity.sf.net/), it's free, open-source, and of fairly good quality; but for a simple file format conversion, it might be "a bit much" for your needs.

Winamp (http://www.winamp.com/) can play .ogg files, and if you use the DiskWriter output plugin, can do an implicit conversion to WAV format for you.  If you're already a Winamp user, this might be the way to go.

i opened thraddash remix with audacity, and it gets cut off. how can i solve this

Two things:

1.  The Audacity Users List (http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/audacity-users) is a much better place to ask questions about Audacity than The Ur-Quan Masters Forum.  Reason being that everyone on the list uses Audacity, whereas almost noone on this forum does.

2.  When you ask them, you might want to try devoting at least 20 words to your problem description; verbosity helps people understand your situation better so that they may help you.
