(sorry, I am having trouble entering in the proper alphabet, please accept this ASCII representation of 'sh') Title: Re: Äëÿ ðóññêèõ ôàíàòîâ SC2 Post by: Ales_Chumakou on May 20, 2004, 12:08:20 pm Is there any opportunity make some kind of official Russian version? So, could we make a translate that would be accepted by UQM authors?
Title: Re: Äëÿ ðóññêèõ ôàíàòîâ SC2 Post by: Culture20 on May 21, 2004, 02:50:10 am One thing you'd need to do would be to create new alphabet pngs for cyrillic characters...
Вы должны создать новые архивы png для алфавита Russian Audio translations would be easy if you can find several people who speak Russian and have access to good recording hardware. Русские тональнозвуковые архивы легки. Вы должны знать людей говорят русского. Они должны иметь хорошее оборудование записи. hmm, babelfish gave me the proper cyrillic characters, but mozilla copy->paste converted them into extended set ascii html codes. :P Title: Interesting Post by: Zeep-Eeep on May 21, 2004, 04:43:16 am That sounds like a very cool idea. Brining UQM to the world!
Title: Re: Äëÿ ðóññêèõ ôàíàòîâ SC2 Post by: meep-eep on May 21, 2004, 06:28:08 am One of the goals of the UQM project is to facilitate things such as translations.
We're moving to XML for most of the files, including the text. If you want to make a Russian (or any other) language pack, you'll need to adapt the following:
Title: Re: meep-eep Post by: Zigfred on June 10, 2004, 02:38:29 pm 1) New voice is not a problem.
2) StarShips & Stars no need to translate. 3) Changed strings in images no needed. Common is translate the dialogs. The problem is encoding XML file. Name of ships & buttons and etc. can translate in one day. Title: Re: Äëÿ ðóññêèõ ôàíàòîâ SC2 Post by: raakone on June 10, 2004, 08:58:16 pm I'm curious, do any of the races have different names in the Russian translation? I imagine the VUX = Very Ugly Xenoform doesn't quite work.....and if Orz is supposed to be a pun on "Or".....Ok, I imagine Orz speech will be yet another something interesting when translated into any other language.

Title: Re: Äëÿ ðóññêèõ ôàíàòîâ SC2 Post by: Lukipela on July 21, 2004, 05:26:36 pm Don't hold your hopes up. Sadly, a lot of these small translation projects die off when the initiator realises just how much work the project entails.
