Title: Consoles
Post by: Exodus on November 18, 2003, 10:45:00 am
Will 'The Ur-Quan Masters' be ported onto any consoles when v1 is released?

I've just bought a PS2 and it's really nice to play games on a lounge suit, vegging in front of the TV ;-)

Plus, The Ur-Quan Masters is a remake of the 3DO version, therefore, it should be played on a console.

Any chance guys?

Considering that you can run Linux on a PS2, and SDL has been ported to PS2 Linux, there is actually a decent chance that UQM already runs on a PS2 or can easily be adapted.

Has anyone here tried to compile UQM for PS2?

Hmmmm... Don't feel like spending $200 just to play the game on a PS2. Guess I'll stick to the computer...

Thanks anyway

My computer is hooked up to use my tv for a display (lousy resolution, but good for this) and I have a logtech pad hooked up, so for me I ususally end up vegging infront of the TV to play UQM, and a few other games too.

So is mine. I have a Geforce 4 Ti 4200, and the TV out is hooked up the the tv. The problem is that my computer is in another room... So the gamepad won't quite reach...

I think I must just get a comfy computer chair - then I can veg in front of the PC....

;-)

Is it $200 to run Linux on the PS2, or $200 for the PS2?  Because you can get the PS2 for (almost) free at freevideogames.com.  That's how I ordered a GBA to try porting UQM.  I haven't actually recieved it yet, so I'm not positive it works, but it seems to be run by the same people as freedvds.com, and I have used that before.

Linux for the PS2 costs $200. It's a kit that you buy, HDD, USB Keyboard & Mouse, Cable to plug the PS2 into a monitor and the Linux distribution compiled for the PS2 hardware...

Here's the link:

I live in SA (South Africa) and recently bought a PS2 - cost me R2000 (rand) excluding the second controller and memory card - all in all it cost me R3010 for the console, extra controller, memory card, Final Fantasy X and Ridge Racer Type 4 (PS1). In dollars that equals $454...
