Title: Re: Atari closes Legend Entertainment Post by: Culture20 on January 20, 2004, 08:12:35 pm If only Atari owned the rights to the words "Star Control" through Legend, and forgot to transfer those rights before dissolving Legend. :-/
Title: Re: Atari closes Legend Entertainment Post by: Michael Martin on January 20, 2004, 11:14:48 pm Well, I'll mourn. But not for SC3. Their Eric The Unready was one of the last of the great commercial parser-based adventures. (It's not quite a text adventure, since there's heavy use of graphics, but it's pretty close.)
Title: Re: Atari closes Legend Entertainment Post by: Culture20 on January 21, 2004, 12:23:20 am I really miss parser adventures; There always seemed like there was more you could do instead of "click object #24 onto stationary but high-lightable background #32".
Title: Re: Atari closes Legend Entertainment Post by: FalconMWC on January 22, 2004, 06:43:07 pm I personally like their Descent games. So I will weep. :'(
Title: Re: Atari closes Legend Entertainment Post by: Michael Martin on January 23, 2004, 03:09:05 am Hrm? I think I missed a merger somewhere. Descent was developed by Parallax, and published by Interplay. Where does that connect to Legend?
(I, too, loved Descent -- it spoiled me on FPSen forever. "Where's the slide-up key?") Title: Re: Atari closes Legend Entertainment Post by: FalconMWC on January 23, 2004, 07:06:50 am Oops - my bad - Descent was made by interplay. :D
Yep - Me and descent had may good days together! (and still do) |
