Title: Application Error Post by: FalconMWC on February 04, 2004, 01:39:50 am OK - I have played UQM many times and have run it about twice a week since I got it about two years ago. Then today it just quit on me!
Here is what it gives me: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click OK to terminate the application." It brings up the black screen in the background as regular exept there is no text on it. It does not at all bring up the "front" window of which you play on. My system specs. 40 GB (about 3 GB free) 512 Ram 1.5 GHZ Windows XP home edition I tried reinstalling it and restarting my CPU. No luck. Any one know what is the problem? EDIT: Thanks Mika - I forgot to put it in the correct topic :'( Title: Re: Application Error Post by: Deep-Jiffa on February 04, 2004, 03:46:25 am Video card?
Setting? What you gave isn't enough...(at least for me...) Title: Re: Application Error Post by: FalconMWC on February 04, 2004, 05:19:42 am I know you won't belive this, but I said (after working on it with no results for hours) "bad computer" AND IT WORKED!!!!! It was so neat! -I mean a voice obeying computer! I at first thought it was the change I made before I said that to my CPU - but it turns out I already tried that!
Thanks for your attention DJ - But my CPU has offfically fixed itself!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) Title: Re: Application Error Post by: meep-eep on February 04, 2004, 01:47:38 pm Oh, we should put this in the FAQ list. "If your computer won't run, try talking to it."
Title: Re: Application Error Post by: FalconMWC on February 04, 2004, 07:00:05 pm I wonder what would happen if I said "good computer"? ;D
Title: Re: Application Error Post by: Deep-Jiffa on February 05, 2004, 12:01:02 am A strange thing will happen: It will shut down. Even if you shut on him and say "bad computer!". But this is ONLY my computer. For example: I write perfectly good html code, and it doesn't work. Someone else write the exact same thing and it works. You search and find no errors.
conclusion: Computers hate me. Title: Re: Application Error Post by: FalconMWC on February 05, 2004, 03:08:51 am I just tried it to my CPU DJ - and it did nothing. As for the HTML code - sorry I find it hard to believe that your CPU will not accept perfectly good HTML just because it is from you. (Of course, if I did not experience it myself then I would not believe that my CPU did what it did either.... :-/
Title: Re: Application Error Post by: Michael Martin on February 05, 2004, 05:10:55 am If I had to speculate, perhaps it was some kind of persistent timing error, and you had an unlucky streak?
Title: Re: Application Error Post by: FalconMWC on February 05, 2004, 05:16:33 am But I tried it mulipule times. O - maybe I know - I had turned my CPU to stand-by before saying that to it. Maybe that changed something?
Note: I had already restarted it many times. Title: Re: Application Error Post by: Deep-Jiffa on February 05, 2004, 08:01:17 pm It just happened to our teacher in computers! She says that the only thing that can cause it is a problem with the program... In your case, I suggest you reinstalling windows...
Title: Re: Application Error Post by: FalconMWC on February 05, 2004, 10:27:08 pm No, no - My CPU fixed the problem - I am just telling what I did while I had it. Sorry for the confusion. As for reinstalling windows - that seems kind of drastic for a problem like this.

As for reinstalling windows - that seems kind of drastic for a problem like this. If by "talking" to the CPU solved the problem, reinstall. If you did something else, don't reinstall. Besides, reinstalling and formating c: (or your windows driver) from time to time is a good thing. Title: Re: Application Error Post by: FalconMWC on February 06, 2004, 07:13:24 pm From time to time does not consist of more than one time in 3-4 months. Anyway I just did it and I could not dectect and changes.. (Which is a good thing I guess).
