Title: www.nationstates.net Post by: Krulle on February 16, 2004, 08:29:19 pm Edit: Okay, last update today (20.04.2004):
By now, we have more than just one region: Star Control Home Quadrant <---- the action is here Orion Mix with Master of Orion nations (e.g. Psilon) possibly and likely incomplete Original message follows and had following time-stamp: (by now, the rest of this message can be seen as useless) « Last Edit: 18.02.04 at 13:07:47 by Krulle » --------------- ( in character ) ------------------- As regional delegate of the region Star Control, we would like to inform you of a nation-simulation game in the world wide web, where you can found your own nation and rule it with an iron fist or let your people live free. Currently, in our region we got rid of the Ur-Quan KzerZa menace and are currently enjoying the rebuilding of our warchoked nations. Since the war led to the destruction of several races, we would like to invite new races connected to the Star-Control universe to settle in our region. Please be welcomed, Kiki UN-ambassador for the region of Star Control Furthermore we are urgently looking for the leaders of following nations: The Heirarchy of Ur-Quan KzerZa Your nations are ungoverned since If you provided a privisional government, since you planned to go on vacation and not leaving your people unwatched, then the normal uprising time of your people is 60 days. Enjoy! ~DEFIANT Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Krulle on February 17, 2004, 01:26:23 pm Actually, it is not really RPG, since you can interact verbally, but that will not change the simulation.
It just happened, that the player who played the Ur-Quan KohrAh just did not login for 28 days, so the system eliminated the nation. In Nationstates you receive one nation (or more if you like), and every now and then you are confronted with a political or social issue of interest. You are offered several choices, you choose your decission and the game evaluates the impact on your nation. This way you'll know if you are leading a "father-knows-best state" or if you are a "psychotic dictator". There are even more possibilities, but some of these issues are really fun. The programmer did not want people who are in holiday to loose their nation, thus he gave the possibility to set a "vacation mode", in this mode, you'll receive no issues to decide on, but your nation will be granted 60 days of inactivity. Just try, if you want to. You'll receive a max. of 2 issues a day, so it can all be done in 5 minutes a day, or 8 minutes every 2 days. (number of issues are dependand on your settings, from 5 a week up to 14 a week.) Enjoy, Krulle btw: the password for our region is "freeworlds" Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: NECRO-99 on February 18, 2004, 03:41:47 am Blast, someone has reign over the Androsynth...probably a_s_b, if I know him right...

Yes, but ask a_s_b on the StarControl Forum, since he seems not to be wanting to continue. He wanted a technocracy, but lost interest after having certain issues too often. And welcome to the other new Nations! Enjoy! Krulle Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Frumples on February 19, 2004, 11:33:20 pm Greetings all
I'm glad to see that Nationstates Star Control 2 region is still going strong! I have been absent for a while but now I'm back (along with my 3 races!) Just like to say I created the NationStates Star Control region a while ago but never expected it to take off!! we now have 20 nations (although some people have more than 1 nation), but even so I think it's going very well for somethign I started on a whim! Many thanks Krulle as I get the feeling you've been keeping it alive :-) Ta Frumples (original nation Frumple) Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Frumples on February 19, 2004, 11:37:08 pm D'oh have had to re-register!! ;-)
Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Krulle on February 20, 2004, 05:14:36 pm So you need to make some posts, eh?
Thanks for your thanks. I just got regional delegate (although it was luck, 3 nations had one vote each...) and i thought, what's with seizing power if everybody else stops playing? So i advertised here, and seemingly it worked. Enjoy! Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Terminator on March 06, 2004, 06:38:57 am I have reinstated the Star Control region all willing to join the password is starcon2.
Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Krulle on March 08, 2004, 08:06:41 pm Sorry, i already moved to The Star Control, since there's simply more happening down there.
Enjoy! Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Krulle on March 08, 2004, 08:30:16 pm What happened?
Quote Krulle (aka Frumples) Sorry, i am NOT Frumples. To abbreviate: Ur-Quan KzerZa banned Smok for aggressive formulation of "You cannot enslave us" Ur-Quan KzerZa being the current UN-delegate abused his power and banned Smok from the region. He then left and founded "Star Control 2", where Death 390 joined him. There they fight one Doctrinal War. To prevent banning from happening again, we decided to leave the region and refound it. Then we would have a founder who could prevent the UN-delegate from banning anyone. To speeden up the process, the Sun-Device has been used to blind all remaining nations and send them to the rejected realms. Then the region has been left by the last remaining race and immediatly refounded. This has raised an alarm within the NationStates system to prevent region-crashing/region-vulturing. The moderators have deleted/eliminated the nations they think have caused the turmoil and deleted the region, thus sending the nations into the rejected realms. Now we have two star-control regions (actually 3: The Star Control Star Control Star Control 2 ) please correct me if i am wrong - thanks!!!! Nevertheless, enjoy! BTW: Hi there, i'm back from my weekend. Hope you all survived the turmoil/*storm*! Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Chrispy on March 09, 2004, 03:01:22 am I made the nation of vlik (supox), and would like to join the region of the star control. What is the access code.
Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Terminator on March 09, 2004, 04:34:58 am Koar-Ah sheilded and changed because i was an ass the former onw was "starpoo" ask Ur-Quan Koah-Ah. I'll leave u all alone now.
Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Terminator on March 13, 2004, 08:52:50 am Should anyone wish to join "Star Control" contact myself or A_S_B(A Stupid Box) for the pass no region crashing\vulturing etc. not enough members for a delegate yet so Therefore The Empire of Zellnick will act as delegate until such a time a one is elected.
Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Krulle on March 16, 2004, 03:35:52 pm The Star Control group of nations has splittered into at least two fractions, divided into three regions:
- Star Control: nothing is happening there, just one nation, so that we will not lose the name to some bugger who likes it. - The Star Control - Home Quadrant The latter two have been founded after we had some problems with one player. Our region (Star Control) got deleted by the mods, we restartet in The Star Control, but due to different views how things should run, Home Quandrant has been founded by The Philosocracy of Lost Chenjesu. The by far biggest region remains The Star Control. Just to bring you all towards the correct regions, Enjoy! Vlik, please PM me as soon as possible (within nationstates) for a password, and welcome to The Star Control! If anyone is really bored and want to see some pointless drama, mozy on over to the SC boards and read through the nationstates threads over there. amazing how people can invest so much time into such pointless bickering. this is exactly the reason I don'tt go for games like these, forum drama is quite enough for me.
Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Chrispy on March 21, 2004, 10:15:11 pm I don't really see the appeal of this game. I started playing as the nation of Vlik, but all you do is answer easy questions and see your country get better and better.
Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Terminator on March 21, 2004, 10:31:39 pm Quote I don't really see the appeal of this game. I started playing as the nation of Vlik, but all you do is answer easy questions and see your country get better and better. It's a government simulator it's like civilization without war. The different choices u make determine what kind of government u have so there are no "easy" questions. Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Chrispy on March 21, 2004, 10:42:39 pm Well they are all opinion questions, so as long as you have opinions they are easy.

I know some peoples' emotions there are very high-strung I guess u saw me inciting riots and whatever the sheer entertainment value is enough. and carious personalities here have become part of Nationstates namely NECRO-99, A_Stuipid_Box(not really here but u get the idea), Krulle, Frumple and ETH(not here but SCDB most active member) Wehave suffered two regoin crashing allready and myself A_S_B and Frumple are trying to create regoins in hopes of stability, Although it's more work than it's worth. Title: Re: www.nationstates.net Post by: Krulle on March 23, 2004, 09:41:06 pm Jennifer Government: NationStates (JGNS) is giving you just a slight insight to governing a nation. Try to get your nation to something like "inoffensive centrist democracy" or "The times democracy" or whatever you want as government. It ain't that easy to keep your nation there.
Some of my nations, especially Kzer-Za, frequently lose their wanted status (for Kzer-Za: "father-knows-best state" and become a "psychotic dictatorship" or "capitalist paradise"). There is not much to do in JGNS, but the decission you make change the type of government you have. And that quite rapidly. The appeal for me, was that when i started playing JGNS, it took me 2x 5 minutes a day. i had a distractment for a minute, typed some pseudo-RP in the regional messagebox and came back in the evening. Some of the talk was really hilarious, sometimes it is only funny. But nontheless, i continue playing, although time gets shorter for me day by day. Granted, some issues are really annoying, especially since the issues tend to come back too often (which got better since they accepted so many new issues), but as Max Berry (the author of Jennifer Government) put it (if you propose an issue): "there should be no 'right' or 'wrong' decissions". It's all about what would you decide, and the game tells you what kind of government you would reign. Anyway, enjoy! Krulle |
