I assume that you are talking about UQM. Well, there is no way to tell this without a spoiler so.....

SPOILER (highlight text to read)

The precursors never show up in the game. You see a lot of their stuff though.

(Star control 3 is a different story)

/SPOILER

Or maybe this is about the music.

I assume they are writing music, or doing all those wonderful things life offers us. They wrote a lot of music in a very short period of time, I htink breaks are in order. Plus, I'm not tierd of the first two albums.

I have sometimes wondered where the otehr two albums were, but since they are doing such a good job, for no reason but the love of starcontrol, you cant say anything.

I think it's just one remix missing from the next pack (plus covers and other "paperwork"). There's couple of extra tracks too.

Post by: TiLT on March 15, 2004, 02:28:33 pm
As Mark Vera said, the next package is almost complete. We've just got a little bit more to do. I just finished another remix yesterday, for example, and we're going to do even more work today. :)

I can't wait to show you our new remixes!

Oops - sorry J, I assumed that you were talking about the precursors in the game.

Don't ever feel like you need to rush. Take as much time as you need.

Make sure to take lots of time on the hyperspace one as that is the one that most people are looking forward to.

Ahem! Hyperspace was released in package 2. We're not releasing any more official versions of that theme in the packages. Mark Vera seems eager to make alternate versions he offers as bonuses though. :)

/me goes back to working on the Ur-Quan theme with VOiD

hmm... It must have been mark vera that posted about making a new hyperspace remix. :-/ OK - Well, still can't wait for your next one.   :)

If the next pack is going to be anything like the former too I guess we'll have some more masterpieces coming.
And you may rush things if you like as that is what created the amazing Druuge music.
I am still in awe by your talent (all of the composers).
On another note, you should place some stuff on that site sometimes just to appease the people who frequent it (if it doesn't disrupt your work)

Speaking of masterpieces, I still listen to the Quasispace remix - I just really like that one for some reason.

Can't say I follow DJ - I am jus saying that there is a SLIGHT chance of J not talking about remix packs. If that is the case I am going to laugh so hard that won't be funny.  8) (That sounded weird)  :o

I suggest you NOT to make a bet, because that way you will lose to a plant...

Well the odds would be worse than a state lottery so no..
(If I don't play any lotterys than why play a game that has worse chances)
And who has the guts to lose to a plant!

On the other hand,  I could say - yeah I would bet 100$ on it and then pay J 25$!  :D

I just want to say woot.  The remix project is why I keep checking this site on a daily basis.  Been a while since I played through UQM, gonna give it another go once the developers declare it done.  But the remixes are on my playlists all the time.

What ever they want - Literally, I had to change my old one three times to get it to work because the people liked it a different size.   >:(

Title: Re: The Precursors: Vanished without a trace?
Post by: Chrispy on March 16, 2004, 10:51:34 pm
its an automatic resize. I guess I could try looking in the forums coding to find the size.

I found it. I found the size of the avaters, and the src for djs avater. ha HA!!

the link happened automatically. Its supposed to not include the quote at the end of it. You need to do some copying and pasting, and u get a wider version of dj's avater. I like the resised one better.

They are all amazing. Well exept hyperspace (the only one not in my playlist). I love the busyness of spathi, and even the bird calls in exploration. 8)

DJ - Trying to understand your post. It can be...

A.
Quote
Nothing is better than the Arilou's song...Tears in my eyes when I hear it.

Meaning that you cry because you hate it so much and that you would rather have nothing than that song. (Less likely)

Or.

B.

Meaning that no other song is better than the arilou's song and it brings tears of joy every time you listen to it.
:P

I am kinda confused - though I think it is B.)

He likes it. Tears of joe! It does have an awsome awsome oboe sample.

If I say that nothing is better than it, you should understand that those are tears of joy.

From this post I understand on of 2 things:
A. You don't have anything to say.
or
B. You are not reading very well.

Interesting. The "oboe" you're referring to is actually 100% synthesized. I just stumbled upon a combination of synth settings that sounded oboish. :)

I'm really proud of the Arilou remix. Thanks for all the nice comments.

It definately did sound oboeish. I also loved that super wierd, synthesised snare drum in Welcome to Falayalaralfali.

Because Precursors vanished can't possibly refer to anything except the remixing? (http://uqm.stack.nl/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Gendiscuss;action=display;num=1045996929;start=)

My absolute favourite is the Druuge, closely followed by Spathi. I can just see them scamper around. And the next one is almost out? Brilliant news. Keep up the good work.

To be honest, I don't know 100%. My list shows that only one song is missing from the 4th package, but that may be, and probably is, inaccurate.

Also, further investigation shows that two remixes for package 3 are unfinished (both are remixes to be done by VOiD and I). A few other remixes require some final tweaking. I wish I could give you a good estimate of when this will be done, but it's so hard to control our inspiration that it's impossible to predict. Hopefully it shouldn't take more than a month from today at worst, although you should read that as an estimate, not a promise.

For the good news, I can reveal that the Ur-Quan remix is among the ones that only require a little bit of final tweaking before being ready for release. That remix has been the main reason for our delay, since it's hard to pay such a theme justice and add something new to it. I'm pretty damn happy about how it turned out, however. :) In our wake we leave two remix attempts that turned out to be insatisfactory.
