Title: Bad Taste Post by: ShofixtiWithAK-47 on March 19, 2004, 06:04:48 am Anyone seen that movie? Excellent. Peter Jackson at his best. By the way, I'm interested to know what everyone's favorite B-Movie/Extreme Violence Movie is.

Title: Re: Bad Taste Post by: Chrispy on March 19, 2004, 07:31:47 am Most people enjoy a good bit of violence. There is a point where violence looses its drama and just becomes sickening.

Title: Re: Bad Taste Post by: Zeep-Eeep on March 20, 2004, 05:20:22 am I'm not much for pure shoot-em up movies. However, one back water film that I enjoyed (also a Peter Jackson flick) was The Frighteners. It stars
Micheal J Fox as a ghost buster. Sort of a comedy meets horror. Title: Re: Bad Taste Post by: shofixti with Ak-47 on March 20, 2004, 11:11:24 am Quote Bad taste indeed. I dont understand why everything is taken so seriously. Allright shiver, in no way am I suggesting that anyone on the forum, or that reads the forum should suck any nuts. Title: Re: Bad Taste Post by: Lukipela on March 20, 2004, 04:17:31 pm I liked that movie. A certain form of action or splatter movie fills a much required space in my life. Namely the hangover mornings. You know, when you're smply to tired to concentrate ion anything proper. Just load up some action flick that you'd normally only watch 10 mins of, lie back and relax. Don't think, just watch the big bangs.
The other approach is to treat them like comedy, watch them with a few friends and just laught your backside off at their unrealistic portraying of the real world. I always wondered how Peter Jackson was ever allowed even close to LOTR. A man with both Braindead and Bad Taste on his resume doesn't initially seem like a good idea. And still, he performed quite brilliantly. Fascinating that. Violence and sex seem to be two things that permeate our entire society nowadays. I wonder at what stage the general public will just decide they've had enough? Moderatrion in everythign is a good guideline, yet we seem to have been ignoring it for quite some while now. Does Jackie Chans older stuff count as B-movies? in that cas eany of those, funniest action in the world. Anyway, why are you posting as a guest when you have an account? That's true, my friends and I had a discussion about this, and I guess maybe his New Zealand backround and the LOTR film locations sort of went hand in hand. I still don't think that's reason enough. But, you're right, brilliant decision. Drunken Master was pure genious. No, there was one which was so bad it just hurt, it wasn't funny. Something to do with Jackie hunting down the kidnapper of this rich girl, in Hong-Kong. The first thing he does upon arriving is go to a brothel with his buddy. While being 'serviced' by four women, the women pull out hidden knives and try to kill the guys. Of course, in the compromising situation they were in, the ladies could have finished them off much more easily in just about any way other than the way they tried. Later in the movie, it is discovered that the rich girl is held captive in a cocaine processing plant inside a block of fake cargo containers, where they hire three ugly naked women to do the actual work, with fifteen security guards and, inexplicably, nurses, to stand around and do nothing. They didn't even get into a fight scene. The longest action scene in the movie was Jackie Chan chasing a boat along a canal, while he had no way to get onto the boat had he caught up, and his running was seriously impeded by his having to jump across very uneven rocking surfaces. They were so unconcerned by his pursuit they weren't even shooting at him, IIRC. Title: Re: Bad Taste Post by: ShofixtiWithAK-47 on March 24, 2004, 06:18:38 am Allright gents, particularly those who have seen Bad Taste. And have a GOOD taste in movies.
A few others you may want to comment on. 1) Dead Alive 2) Pulp Fiction 3) Akira 4) The Usual Suspects 5) Goodfellas -my top 5, in case anyone was interested. Anyone willing to share theirs? Title: Re: Bad Taste Post by: Vassago_Umara on March 25, 2004, 04:21:38 am That's a great list, though I'd probably replace Akira with Ninja Scroll, an Pulp Fiction would be number one.
Title: Re: Bad Taste Post by: Shiver on March 25, 2004, 09:14:35 am Speaking of Pulp Fiction, did anyone see Kill Bill? It was directed by the same guy (Tarantino if it's even spelled like that) and I heard it was pretty awesome.
Title: Re: Bad Taste Post by: shofixti with a ak-47 on March 25, 2004, 10:08:15 pm Kill Bill vol. 1 and 2 are both really amazing. Not Tarantino's best, but definetely worthy of buying.
