Title: Planetary Condition Inconsistencies
Post by: Captain Smith on March 29, 2004, 05:10:58 pm
Here's an interesting puzzle I ran across while I was mining a whole bunch of worlds in SC2...I don't know if this carries over to UQM or not, but thought I'd mention it.

As we know, Alpha Centauri is probably one of the first groups of ruby worlds that people discover...they also happen to be lit up with fire trails like a christmas tree...

So I happen to find another few worlds elsewhere, which seems to call the Weather and Tectonics numbers into question...

To wit:
Alpha Centauri 3 - Weather=3 Tectonics=2
Alpha Ceti 2 - Weather=None Tectonics=1
Iota Hyades 2 - Weather=2 Tectonics=3
Gamma Leonis 2 - Weather=2 Tectonics=3

If we look at this list, as mentioned before, Alpha Centauri 3 is lit up like a Christmas tree with fire trails.  However, the last two are ruby worlds, and are very quiet with higher tectonics numbers - I could go down with a lander with no protections and stay there almost forever without losing a person.  Then what really amazes me, is that Alpha Ceti 2 (a sapphire world), has lower numbers and is as lit up as Alpha Centauri 3 is.

So it looks like to me that there is no consistency in the weather and tectonics numbers.  Any thoughts here?

Fire Trails are temperature based, not weather/tectonic based.

Just clearing things up:

Called                                   Real Name                                                .           What happens in UQM

Tectonics            =        Earthquakes     =        White spots that expand in a circle

Weather              =        Lightning          =         White streak going to the Ground

Tempature      =      Hotspots           =      Fire going in a path
