Title: Mirror list (dont complain)
Post by: SCMaster on April 18, 2004, 09:33:43 pm
dont complain at me just coz this is apparently the fourth time ive asked this properly coz it isnt, this is my second time.
When i run the installer (windows) it tries to connect to the net to download a mirror list but it cannot connect so wen i run the exe file i get a list of problems then the game closes down.

When you run the installer; deselect everything except the dll's.  Download the content.zip file seperately & place it (don't unzip it) in c:\program files\the ur-quan masters\content\packages or wherever your UQM files are located.  Then use the following command line options:
--res=320x240 -f --speechvol=0 --audioquality=high --cscan=pc --music=pc --menu=pc

Closest to the PC experience as you can get. :)

You can remove and speechvol=0 music-pc if you follow Culture20's options since you wouldn't have downloaded to 3DO music or the voice files anyway, I'm unsure typing that when the alterative is non-existant might cause it to crash or loop which dos-based programs are notorious for.

P.S. No comments about the DOS meantion because it's really just a dos program with driver support and speed restrictions.

If you are running Windows95-win98se on the start bar MS-Dos Prompt
screen as follows

C:\Windows>cd\progra~1\The_Ur-~1(enter)
C:\Program Files\The Ur-Quan Masters>uqm -(additional perameters)

NOTE: my version of windows when in dos mode you must type dos names but they display in windows format, I don't know you may have the same problem. Back in the day file\folder names had a 8 character limit(due to HD capacity). What I have posted are the Dos names for the default directory, the underhash is used in place of a space.

Double check with someone else in case I am mistaken.
