Post by: Buschflip on May 27, 2004, 04:51:45 am I read that that The Urquan Masters were not going to use the original source code for the remake, but i still have the original disks from Starcontrol 2. Wouldn't that help. I don't know anything about programming so feel free to correct me if i've made an ass out of my self. :)

here gives you credit for trying, (Two thumbs up!) the original disks won't really help the UQM project. There area few reasons. 1. The code on the disks is binary code. These are instructions that the computer understands. Not something a (normal) human can read. The source code (human readable) is written in the C language. 2. The program you have is likely a copy of SC2 for DOS, right? UQM is a port of that program to other operating systems. If we wanted, I suppose we could all go download a copy of SC2, But it isn't designed for modern systems. 3. As I understand it, the UQM project has a copy of the original source code, which they have modified to let it run on newer OSs. Thanks for the spirit! Welcome to the UQM forum.
