Title: Probably my last topic... Post by: ITP on June 25, 2004, 08:05:21 am just finished the game, the sa-matra is very annoying cause for 3 times i destroyed the shields then the still alive shots burned me to hell. i did wanna mention you missed some species in the ending credits, specifacally the umgah, the slylandro, the chmmr and the mycon.
there might be more but none come to mind right now Title: Re: Probably my last topic... Post by: Death 999 on June 25, 2004, 07:33:25 pm That not everyone made it into the humorous credits is just how FF and PR3 did it in the beginning.
For zapping the live shots I recommend the Chmmr or Thraddash. Title: Re: Probably my last topic... Post by: Chrispy on June 25, 2004, 11:28:00 pm I used the jugger. They make short work of any fireballs.
Title: Re: Probably my last topic... Post by: ChainiaC on June 25, 2004, 11:57:05 pm You dont wanna know how long it took for me to find out I could actually kill those fireballs...
Oh the many times my mothership got fried and I had to reload... oh the PAIN! Title: Re: Probably my last topic... Post by: FalconMWC on June 26, 2004, 01:07:38 am The yahat are excellent at killing the red globes and fireballs - just bounce off the green circles and you are going faster than the fireballs.
Title: Re: Probably my last topic... Post by: ChainiaC on June 26, 2004, 02:15:55 am Pkunk all the way baby! They can outfly the fireballs on their own steam and they shoot from the side too so you can just fly circles around the Sa-Matra whilst firing :)
Title: Re: Probably my last topic... Post by: Vassago_Umara on June 26, 2004, 02:39:26 am Pkunk are Sa-Matra slayers. I didn't know you could kill the fireballs, that would have saved me some pain.
Title: Re: Probably my last topic... Post by: Censored on June 26, 2004, 03:13:13 am I wonder how does the Sa-Matra work.. the fireballs and greeny thingys are only passive defence systems. How would a fully-functional Sa-Matra battle look like? the Chmmr do mention it fried their Broodhomes from outside THEIR weapon range, and that means it's from quite a distance.
Title: Re: Probably my last topic... Post by: ChainiaC on June 26, 2004, 03:36:27 am A full Sa-Matra battle eh?
Well... your happily cruising through space, minding your own business, everything is quiet, nothing on the scanners.... and all of a sudden, your dead :P Your precursor vessel is kind of like a work-vessel, not really a war machine. So it would be like you being the captain of some freighter or tanker ship, with some guns and missile launchers and stuff strapped to it, and you would take on a Nimitz class carrier ;) Title: Re: Probably my last topic... Post by: Culture20 on June 26, 2004, 04:32:57 am The Chenjesu also mention that the Sa-Matra shot Annihalation Toroids. My guess is that they're big auto-tracking energy donuts that surround a ship and disinigrate it as the ship passes through. The fact that they use the word toroid instead of torus makes me think they might be sort of oval shaped, or resize themselves based on the target width/height.
