Title: Inaccurate probe behavior Post by: Michael Prykhodzka on July 20, 2004, 05:27:47 pm Slylando mentions in conversation that probe uses missiles in combat and lightings for raw material decomposition. However it uses lighting always, even if you choose attack instead of converse.

I myself have never actually gone straight into fight, i always converse with the enemy first. Title: Re: Inaccurate probe behavior Post by: Megagun on July 20, 2004, 08:33:06 pm It is because of the properties in it's programming.
Reproduction is set to 999. When you attack it, it will defend with missiles, but as Reproduction has a priority of 999 which overrides defending, it will try to mine your ship... Not a hole in the plot.... ;) Title: Re: Inaccurate probe behavior Post by: ChainiaC on July 20, 2004, 09:35:03 pm Yes it is explained and it makes sense. Probe: WE COME IN PEACE. Zelnick: Die!!!!!! *pow pow* Probe: UNDER HOSTILE FIRE. NEW BEHAVIOR DICTATED. ENABLING DEFENSIVE PROCEDURES. PRIORITY OVER-RIDE. NEW BEHAVIOR DICTATED. MUST BREAK TARGET INTO COMPONENT MATERIALS. Title: Re: Inaccurate probe behavior Post by: Sander Scamper on July 21, 2004, 02:34:40 am I guess that makes sense...but i would've thought the 'hardcoded' set by the Melnorme on Defence would override everything.
Title: Re: Inaccurate probe behavior Post by: FalconMWC on July 21, 2004, 03:14:21 am Not when you make a setting "999". ;)
