Title: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: Calanctus on September 12, 2004, 06:54:52 am How am I supposed to save the Zoq-Fot-Pik after getting the distress call? About a month after my save, their circle on the star map disappears, and I am assuming they are annihilated at that time. When I go to their home planet, the only thing hovering over it is a Kohr-Ah ship, even though their circle is still on the star map. Am I supposed to eliminate that ship to save them? If so, how? Should I load my Precursor vessel with weapons and such?
Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: Captain Smith on September 12, 2004, 07:30:28 am Yes you eliminate the Kohr-Ah ship. And probably the best way to do it is Fwiffo if you still have him around.

Post by: Art on September 14, 2004, 09:05:40 am Loading the Vindicator with lots of weapons is never a losing idea, though, if you've got enough RU and Credits at this point to get something respectable. For me something respectable requires at least having access to tracking systems; it takes a while to upgrade the Vindi's speed and turning to a decent level, and till then dumbfiring at enemy ships requires a lot of slowly moving around in the field of fire, presenting a big juicy target.
If you can get two fusion blasters and some ATS's, though, blowing away the Marauder should be a nice slice of tasty cake. Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: FalconMWC on September 14, 2004, 05:34:59 pm Don't forget about regenerating facilities, all of these and better weapons can be bought at the local Melnorme-Mart down the street at alpha centauri. :P
Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: Zeep-Eeep on September 14, 2004, 06:58:23 pm That's of course if you want to spent the time to save them. Nothing bad happens if the ZFP are wiped out. ... Except no more Frungie Championchips next year.
Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: Art on September 15, 2004, 01:33:15 am Enh, they're a source of useful information, and their ships can be fun to play with in some situations. Also, if you beat the Kohr-Ah, you get four Stingers for free (which are probably best used by scrapping them for RU, but still).
C'mon, you don't want to be the kind of heel who'd abandon the poor little guys, would ya? Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: Kaiser on September 15, 2004, 12:33:33 pm You do if you lead the Slave Empire of Zelnick. :P

Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: Kaiser on September 19, 2004, 01:09:50 pm I only do that once I know I have the money and tech to make the Vindicator a maxed warship.
Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: WildLynx on February 27, 2018, 10:53:19 pm They are still wiped.
I answered the call and killed green ship. They were happy and gave me 4 their ships. That means mission complete? Some time later, I noticed by accident that I cannot build their ships anymore. I looked at the map and circle is gone too. I went to investigate and found their homeworld litterd with wrecks. Everyone killed. Why? They called again and I was away from starbase for too long? Not the entire month, I sure. Linux version. 0.7.0. Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: Kaiser on February 28, 2018, 06:33:35 am What was the date?

you killed a green ship in the Zoq-Fot-Pik system? Interesting.... Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: WildLynx on February 28, 2018, 04:59:26 pm What was the date? Current date is OCT22 Y2159 Circle disappeared may be a little earlier. What I did lately: I finally outfitted my mothership properly - Hellbores, furnaces, point defence and such, and gave a green UQms some beating. May be it caused black UQms to go to rampage? Gray circle moves all over the place and now they present even in Sol, although they already lost some ships here ... Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Quote The Death March commences the day that Kohr-Ah win the Doctrinal Conflict, that is, on 17 February 2159 or, if the Supox and the Utwig have attacked and weakened them, on 17 February 2160. However, if the player is in the solar system of Delta Crateris at the time that the Kohr-Ah win, the Death March will be postponed by seven days. This can be repeated as many times as necessary (e.g. 24 February, 3 March, and so on). http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/Death_March (http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/Death_March) Is this the first time you play Star Control 2? It is a difficult game... you might need to start over again from the beginning... Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Looks like it's not working here. While looks like I'm able to hold Solar system forever, by destroying any ship that enter, II cannot leave to do missions and so I doomed. New game then. One thing that hold my advance is lack of knowledge how to capture bio resources - I found that lander can fire stun gun way too late. I had Mothership fully equipped with readily available modules, and was planned to find how to cap bio resources to sell to trader ships sometime later ... so I had to make long runs to find easy to take resources. Thanks for answers! Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: Krulle on February 28, 2018, 09:45:56 pm Simple test for your tactics.

But you still can't reduce the numbers because the NPC can cheat, specifically in this instance, by reusing defeated ships as much as they want. Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: Zanthius on February 28, 2018, 11:04:47 pm I know it might would have made the game not work properly, but one of the things I disliked with SC2, was the "infinite" amount of ships at home planets, and in the circles/domains of the aliens. For example, I could go to the home planets of for example the Traddash or Umgah, and fight forever without losing a ship. When a single Kohr-Ah ship can take out the Zoq-Fot-Pik home planet, I should also have been able to take out the Traddash and Umgah home planets.
Anyhow, it is also a bit silly that you can only fight one ship against one other ship. In reality, I guess the Umgah and Traddash would have sent thousands of ships against one of my ships. Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: JHGuitarFreak on February 28, 2018, 11:18:21 pm It would have been kinda neat if you could do your own "Cleansing".
I don't know what it would take to make that a possibility. Though I could take a look. Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: CelticMinstrel on March 01, 2018, 03:44:46 am Well, it'd take a lot more than just allowing you to defeat the fleet at a homeworld, though.

I'm missing it in the Ultronomicon... http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/Star_Control_II_facts Also, thanks for sharing. So, I basically fight the same Umgah ship 10 times? Does the counter even go down, or does it stay fixed at 65535? Otherwise I'm tempted to actually use my BumpingTool and fight 65535 times in one location. Will take ages... Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: JHGuitarFreak on March 01, 2018, 02:06:43 pm There is no winning scenario programmed in the game for the infinite fleet. In other words there is no counter.
You can set 65,535 to 1 and you'll be fighting the same ship over and over. All that happens is the crew refills and it refreshes the captain's name. Title: Re: How do I save the Zoq-Fot-Pik? Post by: Krulle on March 01, 2018, 09:10:54 pm I feared so.
I know there's nothing in the conversation tree for such a case. But still..... Thanks for sharing the knowledge! |
