Title: Black Sky Post by: ViperG on November 06, 2004, 07:37:55 pm Hey just wanted to let you guys know im building a 2d action space rpg game (also like after math, but not 3d)
if you want to check it out and let me know the website is http://www.blackskygame.com it's in early alpha stage and all I have right now is the combat but it's playable. and im using the defiant ship atm. I'm also looking for people to help if anyone wants too. I'm in need of a 2d artist. Right now im doing everything by myself! but check it out and let me know what you think/suggestions. All of a sudden now I want to try and convert it over to 3d after playing aftermath about 5 mins ago. I didn't even know it existed until now. HMM! oh well I was impressed with it it's really cool. Title: Re: Black Sky Post by: Zeep-Eeep on November 07, 2004, 07:21:13 am Can we see some source code? I'm a Linux nut
and don't have a Windows installation on which to test the game. Title: Re: Black Sky Post by: ViperG on November 08, 2004, 04:39:07 am I would but im not comfortable with putting my source code out on the net if you know what I mean. I really want this project to be exclusive to me vs seeing clones of my game everywhere...
But in the future as my game nears completion I might port it to linux. Title: Re: Black Sky Post by: Defender on November 08, 2004, 06:47:15 am ITS THE DEFIANT CLASS!!! I THINK IM IN LOVE!! ummm... thats is... nice screenshots, looks interresting. id like to give it a try.

Then I remembered that I usually write all my stuff in Cocoa. Hehe.
Title: Re: Black Sky Post by: Chrispy on November 10, 2004, 01:51:36 am I can't install it. I get a message saying "RE is not in the list of known Packman application identifiers"
Title: Re: Black Sky Post by: ViperG on November 10, 2004, 05:49:20 am do you have winrar?
Title: Re: Black Sky Post by: Chrispy on November 11, 2004, 12:35:25 am a win-what?
Title: Re: Black Sky Post by: 0xDEC0DE on November 11, 2004, 01:32:35 am WinRAR (http://www.justfuckinggoogleit.com/search?query=winrar): Yet another archival format, it is growing in popularity in some circles despite the fact that it offers little to no tangible benefit over the other players already in the field, e.g., ZIP, LHA, tar, etc.
* So says the cranky Unix admin, looking for his installation of cpio ;) Title: Re: Black Sky Post by: ViperG on November 11, 2004, 05:07:31 am Quote WinRAR (http://www.justfuckinggoogleit.com/search?query=winrar): Yet another archival format, it is growing in popularity in some circles despite the fact that it offers little to no tangible benefit over the other players already in the field, e.g., ZIP, LHA, tar, etc. * So says the cranky Unix admin, looking for his installation of cpio ;) Well winrar does a better job for me. Seems to compress about 10-20% into a smaller file size. If you don't believe me try both on my game. Winrar will compress better, even with the newest winzip compression. I was only doing it for the modem users hehe. Anyways I put a zip file instead of RAR. so it should work now if anyone was having problems with a rar file. Title: Re: Black Sky Post by: Yurand on November 11, 2004, 08:25:22 pm How about Improved and optimized version of LZ77 algorithm (lzma). You can create NSIS installer that will generate even smaller file then rar does.
Title: Re: Black Sky Post by: ViperG on November 16, 2004, 10:56:31 pm I put a new version up today! sweet! It adds impact rotation. which is pretty cool, the ships fling around as they get hit. :D
go check it out at http://www.blackskygame.com Title: Re: Black Sky Post by: ViperG on December 08, 2004, 01:21:52 am I just released version 1.03a today go check it out!
