Title: Star Con II Post by: Almo on May 09, 2005, 09:26:24 am I never finished this game the first time around, as I played it at a friend's place. Remember that KD? ;D
But I did play a lot of Super Melee. Wow, I just installed v0.3, and got hooked all over again playing the single player and one super melee. What a great game. Thanks for resurrecting it! Title: Re: Star Con II Post by: Arne on May 09, 2005, 03:49:09 pm Yeah it's great isn't it? Some people have spent a lot of their free time on the UQM project (I'd guess). Big thanks in their general direction!
I actually missed the game when it came out. I have some vague memories playing SC1 melee with a friend though. In any way, SC2/UQM, Exile and a few other oldies have been the only games that impressed me the last few years, which shows how strong they are (or how weak new games are) (or that they stopped making games of this genre). Note: 'StarCon' was actually a game for the Playstation I think. I'm not sure what a good short for StarControl is, SC can confuse it with StarCraft. Title: Short Hand. Post by: Deus Siddis on May 10, 2005, 06:29:45 am For short, I like to call it:
Starcontrol: The Battle of the Good and Noble Alliance of Free Stars and the Evil Ur-quan with Their Hierarchy of Terrifying Battle Thralls of Death and Pain. Title: Re: Star Con II Post by: michael on May 10, 2005, 07:08:29 am :o :o....what to you call it when your using the full name :P?
Title: Re: Star Con II Post by: Art on May 10, 2005, 08:05:52 am The modern remake version of the game that they were gonna make (not with TFB's involvement) was called StarCon, to make it sound cool and fresh and more appealing to people who hadn't played Star Control (as they thought no one would buy "Star Control 4" if they hadn't played Star Control 1, 2 or 3). However, it never got past the very early development stages, so StarCon is still a safe term to use for Star Control.
Title: Re: Star Con II Post by: Deus Siddis on May 10, 2005, 08:24:50 am You can call Starcontrol 2:
Starcontrol 2: The Exciting Adventures of Captain Zelnick in His Unbelievably Precursor Ship, the Vindicator, as He Explores Space, Meets Over Two Dozen Aliens (action figures sold separately), Fights the Evil Ur-Quan Death Fleet, and Unlocks the Dark Secrets of the Past, While Trying Not to Get His Ass Atomized. As a shorter version, you can call it SC2EACZHUPSVHESMOTDAFEUQDFUDSPWTNGHAA For short, I call SC3: Crap Title: Re: Star Con II Post by: michael on May 10, 2005, 09:26:53 am " For short, I call SC3:Crap" but it's one letter longer.
Title: Re: Star Con II Post by: Deus Siddis on May 10, 2005, 09:31:30 am Perhaps you have not been following the past few posts. :P

No, I did. On the other posts, my "short" versions were longer than the original versions. SC3-Crap is the least exagerated of these, which is why I was poking fun at how it was the only one being pointed out. It's stupid, I know, but I never meant for it to be halarious. Title: Re: Star Con II Post by: Death 999 on May 10, 2005, 10:32:52 pm But SC3 was the only one you claimed was shorter.

Nope: "For short, I like to call it: Starcontrol: The Battle of the Good and Noble Alliance of Free Stars and the Evil Ur-quan with Their Hierarchy of Terrifying Battle Thralls of Death and Pain." Title: Re: Star Con II Post by: Almo on May 10, 2005, 11:35:03 pm "Crap" one syllable.
"SC3" three syllables. Title: Re: Star Con II Post by: Deus Siddis on May 11, 2005, 04:01:51 am I meant more the amount of letters you would have to spell out, than pronouncing it.

Actually, no. You asked what the long version was, but I just went on to give my short version of SC2: "You can call Starcontrol 2: Starcontrol 2: The Exciting Adventures of Captain Zelnick in His Unbelievably Precursor Ship, the Vindicator, as He Explores Space, Meets Over Two Dozen Aliens (action figures sold separately), Fights the Evil Ur-Quan Death Fleet, and Unlocks the Dark Secrets of the Past, While Trying Not to Get His Ass Atomized.
