Well, I found all 10 rainbow worlds. I cheated on five of them but then found that they are all in a giant arrow pointing and ending in the Groombridge direction. I heard this points out the fate of the Precursors. Also there was a Rainbow world guarded by mycon. That planet had like 10 mycon defending it. It had lot of Bio-Life on it. Only two of the 10 rainbow worlds have life on them. Also This was in a straight line from the Syreen Vault. I Think it was Gamma Kepler. Anyway, I would like to discuss why the rainbow worlds are here and if you have found all of them.

I dont remember which page i read it from but i know its from PNF, but if you found all the rainbow worlds and have "wimbli's trident", then went to groombridge there you would(this is where it gets a little fuzzy) have a conversation with Paul Reiche III and Fred Ford i think. or did they say you would have a conversation with gods...
eh i forgot, but it was never finished and didnt end up in the release

Yeah, the groombridge encounter didn't make it into the game. However, you'd better start looking for the secret cloaking device module.  :P

That thing about the precursor cloaking device is a myth. Anyway lets get back on topic. What the hell did the precursors make the rainbow worlds for. And how come the game developers didn't put in precursor artifacts. Like ZEX's precursor nullifier (ever though he lied about it). It also sucks that you can't buy"useless information" from the melnorme.

I thought SC3 you cant play with newer OSs?

SC3 is on HoTU (so is UQM now!)

But it's not worth it. Trust me.

while SC3 carries on parts of teh storyline succesfully it kills the shofixti and is extremely buggy. I bought it brand new for 40 bucks and have never been as unhappy with a game.

SC3 was a blatant attempt for accolade to mooch off of the Star Control name and fan base, don't get it. I spent 10 years playing SC2 and about 2 months on SC3, you do the math.

It was the supox who were killed. Also, they wern't completely destroyed, it's just that their team didn't make it to the place where SC3 takes place.

And indeed, SC3 was the most disappointing game sequal I've played.

I had heard from friends that SC3's plot wasn't worthy of SC2, so I never bought it.  I was quite happy with how well SC2 had come together and felt it deserved better.  I haven't read through the forums for all the debate on this issue... I'm sure there has been a lot, but I find it very amusing that Wikipedia's entry on Star Control III describes how, "In a feat of krypto-revisionism, many fans of the two earlier games have decided to simply ignore SC3, retconning it into never happening." I should have ignored Deus Ex 2:  Invisible War, too, but what's done is done...

just dont expect it to be an overwhelming sequel and you'll enjoy it.

The strategy of being a kamikaze rat has certain logical effects upon your population growth after a while.

But anyway, the Shofixti didn't die in SC3. I think they just didn't contribute members to the Kessari Expedition, understandable since they're just getting repopulated. (Though I do wish they'd seemed less arbitrary in picking which races went along and which didn't. The Yehat don't want to come but the VUX do? WTF?)

All determined by who owns the rights. Not that I can figure out why the Syreen, VUX, Spathi, etc. were ok but the Yehat were not...

The Pkunk were OK, right? And that probably assumes some Yehat, as the two races join at the end of SC2. The Terminators would have been a nice addition, though...

No, I'm pretty sure they *had* rights to all the races. I mean, picturing them buying the right to use each of the races one-by-one from TFB sounds bizarre to me. (And why would they let them use important races like the Ur-Quan, the Orz, the Arilou and whatnot but tell them the Supox and the VUX and Shofixti are off-limits?)

I remember it being said that basically races were excluded in order to balance gameplay within the game or something asinine like that, like the Yehat Terminator was too powerful against the new ships they came up with for the new races. Still sounds like a crappy reason to eliminate a popular race from the game without a decent in-game justification.
