this morning (11:30 in finnish time) i played star control 2: the ur-quan masters v. 0.4.

i havent played star control 2 for long time but now when  i played it i was thinking something like "it would be so nice to discuss about star control with other star control players." then remembered this place. i cant believe i forgot this place (i havent writed here much but still). well now im trying to stay here and be with all of you.

From what I gather there are a lot of scandanavians here. I'm from Canada, as is terminator I believe.

Confirmed. I have data on the position of the entities "Earth" and "Finland". The difference in position between the co-ordinates for the respective centres of mass is roughly 6.36 Mm. Close, but I've seen lots of asteroids orbit each other at a much smaller distance.

Am I the only one here from the US?

Does that figure truely represent the distance between earth's center and finland's? If so, is finland an amorphous patch on a sphere, that is extuded down to a single vertice at the center of it's host planet, on your model? Or is that just the distance between the core and the surface of earth? (Don't really know, I'm just asking.)

Yeah. Strictly speaking, the value is slightly lower if we take into account that Finland is a bunch of stuff on a curved patch of the surface of something that is almost a sphere. However, even if the entire mass of Finland were concentrated in Hangö and Utsjoki, this would only decrease the distance by less than 0.5 %.

Maybe I should go calculate something useful instead.

Yea, I have to tell the thing to change my password everytime I log in, otherwise it says "that username does not exist". If I try and create a new one, it says there's already an account with my email address (duy, it's my old account, that I can barely access). Sometimes, I'm not sure how beneficial technology really is. Let's bring back the good old days of banging two sticks together.

Hmm... I've never experienced that myself. Perhaps throwing away your old cookies may help.

Ha, America is plagued by a few more problems than that. 20 years is an optimistic timeframe. What this means for the world will be determined by who replaces the US as the new super power (India good, China not so good).

My money's on china.

Though the odds are probably in your favor, it might not be the best bet to make. You pretty much lose either way.
