Title: Slylandro Problem

I was having the conversation with ther Slylandro about the probes when I suddenly had to stop playing the game. So, I left them without exhausting all dialogue options. Now, whenever I talk to them again, I'm unable to get the self destruct code out of them. Um...help?

They don't tell you exactly what the code is in the dialogue.  They basically just give it to you.  Maybe they did give you the code and don't realize it.  Have you found a probe yet?

Yeah. I can't tell the probe to blow up.

Wait...is it because I haven't talked to the Zoq Fot Pik yet?

Make sure you've actually seen the probe malfunction. So you need to have talked to one at least once. (Just attacking it on sight won't work).

Yeah. I've seen it. Multiple times. And all I can say to the Slylandro is "Tell me about your species" and "Is that all the probe can do?" which, mind you, always appear no matter how many times I exhaust all dialogue options.

Oh well...  Might be a bug in the game.  For now, you can probably reload an earlier save if you have one, or milk the probes for what they're worth which many of us on this forum prefer to do.

This is what I think will help - After talking to the Slyl0, leave the star system and wait in hyperspace, you'll be attacked by a probe, then talk to Slyl0 again. I think that will help. LMK.

Yep remember the basic rule for the game is that you can't do anything unless your character "knows" about it.  In the case of the probes, you have to attempt to communicate with one at least once (and therefore get attacked) before you can get the destruct code.   Otherwise it's just some probe you decided to aggressively blow out of space.

I encountered the exact same problem.. the solution is to find a sylandro probe outside and CONVERSE with it, you need to make sure you see the code malfunction occur during the conversation with that probe.

Then go back to the Sylandro homeworld and you will get the self-destruct sequence.
