Title: Disappointed by the 3D0 Ending Post by: easchoeller on August 01, 2005, 06:25:13 pm I played the PC version when i was a kid "back in the day" and have loved playing the game again this summer, yadda yadda
Honestly i was kinda pissed when i had to play the 3D0 version of the ending - In the PC version you never actually fight the sa-matra (actually that was kinda cool) but after you beat it the movie would come up with the ship going in, the pod escaping, waking up at the starbase with talana and learning about the mark 2 (?)... etc. THEN the credits would come on. All i got with this version (0.3) was the credits and it left me very sad. Im sure someone has posted on this before, but i couldnt find anything. Is there anyway to play the PC ending with the video? Or do i have to dig up the game and build a DOS box to play it (like i originally had planned on doing...) Thanks As a side note, when the cyborg was turned on and i went to fight the sa-matra it went STRAIGHT to the credits - i didnt actually see the cyborg battle the sa-matra --- what the heck is the deal with THAT? Seems fair to me. Most games don't let you win without playing. Title: Re: Disappointed by the 3D0 Ending Post by: Josh Lagudda on August 01, 2005, 07:23:27 pm By the way, is there any way to get the 3DO video files other than signing up with Gamespy? I'm curious to see them, but it doesn't look like PoNaF's are available for free.
Title: Re: Disappointed by the 3D0 Ending Post by: Sander Scamper on August 01, 2005, 08:02:18 pm Is the game actually coded to fight the Sa-Matra? It's not exactly a normal fighting pattern.
Title: Re: Disappointed by the 3D0 Ending Post by: Halleck on August 01, 2005, 10:07:15 pm You don't want the ones from PONAF. What you need are DUK videos extracted from the 3DO disc. You can find instructions on how to rip these on the Ultronomicon, in the "Technical FAQ".
Title: Re: Disappointed by the 3D0 Ending Post by: Josh Lagudda on August 01, 2005, 11:00:21 pm Wouldn't it be much cheaper and easier for me to sign up for Gamespy downloads than for me to find a 3DO CD and follow complicated ripping instructions? Presumably the vids on the PoNaF are legal, or they wouldn't be there?
Title: Re: Disappointed by the 3D0 Ending Post by: Defender on August 02, 2005, 05:15:51 am they are of really poor quality. there not in duk format., which is what you need. but if you would rather wate your time, instead of listening to good advice. by all means, have at.
Title: Re: Disappointed by the 3D0 Ending Post by: Josh Lagudda on August 02, 2005, 05:41:34 am While I'm at it, maybe I should by some high end speakers, just to make sure I'm not missing out on anything there. ::)
Title: Re: Disappointed by the 3D0 Ending Post by: Halleck on August 02, 2005, 06:20:50 am It's simple UQM is equipped to play duk videos, and not the ones on ponaf. You have two options:
1. Buy a 3DO CD and rip them legally. 2. Steal bootlegs of the DUK files from other places on the net. Title: Re: Disappointed by the 3D0 Ending Post by: JHGuitarFreak on August 02, 2005, 06:37:04 am technically i havent found bootlegs of the duk movies, but i have found the SC2 3DO iso image floating about ;)
Title: Re: Disappointed by the 3D0 Ending Post by: Halleck on August 02, 2005, 07:10:02 am Bootlegs of just the duk videos exist.
Title: Re: Disappointed by the 3D0 Ending Post by: Josh Lagudda on August 02, 2005, 08:38:58 am Oh, I'm not particularly partial to seeing them in-game. I've beaten the game now, so it's not like I'd be spoiling anything by seeing them freestanding. Truth be told, I'd rather not have to beat the Sa-Matra again (pretty tedious fight, as they go).
