Title: Game is Broken Post by: Shen on August 02, 2005, 04:32:09 am Valiant attempt, certainly worth it, as I played the original SC2 when it came out.
Ran across this tidbit on another website, thought, hey wouldnt it be cool to play that cool game again. After downloading all the various files, having to read through multiple pages of worthless info and chit chat, searching through yet more worthless bug search pages, technical rip rap and other worthless crap. I have come to the conclusion that, like many others running WinXP, this game doesnt/cannot/probally will not operate properly. I have searched, read, tried everything/action i could find to make this damn game function and nothing for all my efforts. BTW, no i dont need to run a stupid virus scan or run adaware. The problem is simply bad code. That hadda be the worst damn advice ive seen in this forum. Game doesnt work? Gee, run a program that detects spyware and tracking cookies. Yeah. That solves bad code and incompatibility problem everytime. Idiot. As you can tell, by my obvious sarcasm and general irritation, is a result of exasperated attempts to find help in this matter. It simply will not run. Let me know when the 'makers' of this port/recode/whatever get around to making it actually work worth a shit instead of me spending the past 3 hours fucking around reading morons pretend they actually know what the hell they are talking about. Title: Re: Game is Broken Post by: Defender on August 02, 2005, 05:02:06 am while i regret to inform you, this game runs just fine under winxp. you must be stupid or a complete moron or both. your attitude suggest, no matter how stupid i am, i will inform others of my stupidity.
now, being allot less judgemental than you, i will gladly like to help you get this running for you. but it seems you left out a few important aspects. like what "exactly" is your problem? what is happening, that its not working for you? if you would kindly fill in these details, ill be glad to give you any and all help you need. balls in your court, friend. Title: Re: Game is Broken Post by: JHGuitarFreak on August 02, 2005, 06:08:16 am The problem is simply bad code. HAHAHAHAHAHA... that was a laugh. Title: Re: Game is Broken Post by: harth1026 on August 02, 2005, 06:20:28 am The problem is simply bad code. Maybe you should try running a virus scan.. Or how about adware. You might have spyware on you PC.Title: Re: Game is Broken Post by: JHGuitarFreak on August 02, 2005, 08:47:37 am maybe the game dont work for you cause you are computer illiterate...
or your just a tightass and nothing ever works for you ::) Title: Re: Game is Broken Post by: Megagun on August 02, 2005, 11:16:07 am Quote The problem is simply bad code. A-ha! I sense a CHALLENGE!!! CHALLENGE ALERT! You write your own piece of code, put it here, and we'll compare it to the rather excellent code of UQM.. :) Also, I'll be glad to inform you that TELLING SOMEONE THAT SOMETHING SUCKS IN A FANSITE FOR THAT THING IS NOT A GOOD IDEA, and ESPECIALLY not if you've played the original game and *enjoyed* it.. Wouldn't you be PRAISING the developers for this? If not, you're not a true SC2 fan... Also, we can fix your problem. We've fixed pretty much every problem ANYONE had here on this forum, unless it was hardware-related... So now go and virusscan your PC, run Ad-Aware, replace all your possibly shitty hardware (and make sure you wire everything right, otherwise you might run into EVEN MORE problems), and then run UQM again.. Have fun, I guess.. Okay, if you're even bothering to come back here: run UQM in OpenGL mode. That ought to work.. And next time, take your "I am the best coder of them all you all suck lolololololol i just cremead my pants lololo hahahaha lol i rukle you sux lol hahaha ill h4ck you just now lol" talk somewhere else, unless you want to have the Ilwrath come visit you overnight.. Title: Re: Game is Broken Post by: meep-eep on August 02, 2005, 12:30:57 pm Re Shen: I was thinking "Well, suit yourself then", but now I'm wondering: What is the thought behind your posting? What do you intend to achieve with it?
And you'd be surpsised how many graphics problems are solved by updating graphics drivers (the drivers that accompany the first releases of hardware are very frequently bugged), and how many crashes and slow running of games can be explained by spyware and virusses (these things eat memory and processor time you know, and they sometimes try to intercept system functions). Look in the technical help of any game, and updating drivers and running a virus scanner are the first things they'll suggest. And "Game is Broken" is the most worthless bug report/request for help I've ever seen. Noone is psychic here. Title: Re: Game is Broken Post by: JHGuitarFreak on August 03, 2005, 02:46:26 am i don't think he's coming back ;D
Title: Re: Game is Broken Post by: Culture20 on August 03, 2005, 03:01:30 am It's possible he's running WinXP 64 bit edition; Maybe running a 32bit version of UQM on 64bit XP freaks out (I know 64bit UQM freaks out on a 64bit OS)? *shrug*
