Title: Favorite Windows Firewall Post by: Mr._Jiggles on August 19, 2005, 10:23:27 pm Yea, I have Norton and it protects me from everything imaginable. The only way I could get a Virus is if I downloaded a virus file and installed it manually on my desktop or I turned off my Firewall.. What do you guys have?

Well, anyways, I have none.. Firefox, a Virus scanner (AVG), plus a router that isn't shitty works great, you know.. :) Also, Linux works. Title: Re: Favorite Windows Firewall Post by: Deep-Jiffa on August 20, 2005, 06:33:35 pm Lastest Zone Alaram Pro + AVG

But for those times I use Windows, I'm a Zone Alarm fan. Title: Re: Favorite Windows Firewall Post by: Culture20 on August 21, 2005, 03:50:40 am My favorite windows firewall? A Pentium Pro with 24MB of RAM & two NICs, running OpenBSD... I think that qualifies as "other"

I think that qualifies as "other" Yep, that certainly qualifies as other. I've heard openBSD has an excellent record for security. In hard Internet times such as this, I must give them credit for keeping their systems hardened. Title: Re: Favorite Windows Firewall Post by: Death 390 on August 25, 2005, 09:10:37 am I use Zone Alarm Full
I've tried a number of anti-virus and firewall combinations over the years and my experience of the Norton Suite was that it seemd a bit resource heavy and seemed to interfere with several of my regular apps/games (possibly I wasn't configuring it properly) so I ditched it for Zone Alarm Free with AVG. Now I use the full version combined ZoneAlarm Firewall and Antivirus app and I've had no problems with my PC since. I also use SpyBot to weed out those annoying spyware files/apps that can be downloaded from time to time, and now my PC is clean as a whistle! ;) |
