Title: Modding the In'Game Music Post by: XeoBlade on September 22, 2005, 06:14:11 pm Hello all.
I was wondering how to mod the in-game music, because i found a remix of the original HyperSpace Travel and the Battle Themes from Star Control II Original DOS 1992 Game and i played it too, and now that i can run this awsome version on a P4 with WinXP, it doesnt come with the old musics that make the feeling of the original DOS game. If u can tell me how to mod the music, or at least change the themes so i can hear those originals, pliz tell me. Even i converted them to the OGG format and tried them, but wih no succes. Thanx... -m pc Title: Re: Modding the In'Game Music Post by: Novus on September 23, 2005, 02:50:34 pm I'll expand on MikeD's comment a little for clarity. UQM contains both the original PC music and the 3DO music. The PC music is contained in the .mod files in the content ZIP, while the 3DO version replaces some of the music (generally speaking, the music played when no one is speaking) with new versions that have been converted to Ogg Vorbis format (.ogg) for UQM.
The 3DO music is optional; if you don't install it, UQM will play the PC music instead. If you have the 3DO music installed and don't want to remove it, but want to hear the PC music instead, use the command-line option "-m pc" when starting UQM or use Mark Vera's UQM launcher to start UQM with the correct setting. For details, see the UQM technical FAQ (http://uqm.stack.nl/wiki/The_Ur-Quan_Masters_Technical_FAQ#How_do_I_change_my_settings.3F). If you really want to replace the music, you can create an add-on pack containing the new music. However, if all you want is to get the PC music back, the instruction above should suffice. |
