Title: How do you sell ships?
Post by: Leona on October 13, 2005, 03:26:56 pm
Hi, how do you sell or scrap ships in the shipyard? I remember there used to be a +ship -ship option in the original SC2. I managed to figure out how to buy a ship by selecting an empty bay. But how do you actually sell an unwanted ship?

I could be wrong (as always).

First, sell (or transfer them to another ship while in space) all your crewmembers.
When there's only one left  and you are in the fleet management screen of starbase, selling crew should change to scrapping the ship.

It doesn't work. For instance with the Earth Cruiser at 1/18 of crew strength, it just stays there. Pressing fire will do nothing and pressing alt-fire will return back to the menu.

There's an option somewhere somehow (I think a command line option?) to use the DOS version of the menus.

That's what I've done anyway ;).

But yeah, sell or move your crew first so you don't lose the money

On my copy, selecting a ship in the shipyard and pressing down decreases the crew by 1. If the crew is 1, the crew display changes to "SCRAP", at which point pressing the usual select key scraps the ship and gives you lots of RU.

Confirming that this version works for me as well.
