Title: Just finished the game: Some feedback... Post by: Zedzero on December 07, 2005, 11:20:26 am Hello.
I have never played sc1 or sc2 before, but loved uqm, so i spent the last 3 days playing it. It was very very hard, but thanks to wiki and forum, i finally finished it with some little hints. Since this game is still being developed, i thought some feedback would be nice. I know the game is based on original source code, so i am not sure if implementing some of these are possible, but anyway i'm shooting away: - Game universe is huge. Without any map, it's impossible to find a system. At least, there should be a search by name button on starmap. - There should be a detailed log. Sometimes i got so many hints at once, that i can only examine half of it. Also it would be better if every different kind of activity is written with a different color. Like: Departed from planet x Landed on planet y Conversation with the Orz [Click here for details] Added new quest [Click here for details] Departed from planet y Completed a quest [Click here for details] ... [yellow] Learned that homeworld of the Pkunk is planet z - Until the last battle, i never needed any ships other than my flagship. Customization to little ships should be possible, and also i missed the flexibility of the ship design of master of orion 2 throughout the game. more to come soon... Thanks for this great game. I'm not sure why the official version doesn't have it yet.Title: Re: Just finished the game: Some feedback... Post by: Guest of Death on December 09, 2005, 08:05:38 pm The game has been fully developed, just not fully coded. It's a remake of the original SC2 for the current PC capabilities. It wasnt a part of the official game and so i hope it wont be a part of the official remake, while it makes it easier to play, it takes away from the experience.

Post by: Icemage_999 on December 10, 2005, 02:14:01 am As noted above, UQM is a remake of Star Control II, and plays almost 99% identically, which is a huge tribute to the skill and dedication of the people working on this project (granted, they had the original source code released by Toys For Bob, but I understand the original code wasn't very stable and had a lot of holes which had to be retroactively fixed).

Plus the code was not for the PC. It was for a game console named 3DO.Icemage That makes the work of the voluntarees here just the more remarkable. A lot of thanks, "coders"! Krulle |
