Title: Somethin interesting about SC2 3DO iso... Post by: JHGuitarFreak on February 18, 2006, 10:30:38 am I was just screwin around and decided to hex edit my SC2 3DO cd iso and there is a phrase "i am a duck" that is repeated multiple times in the 'beginning' of the iso file.
don't know what it really means, but a few of my other 3DO iso's have it too, so it just doesnt pertain to SC2. Title: Re: Somethin interesting about SC2 3DO iso... The phrase "iamaduck" (no spaces, 8 bytes) seems to repeat at the end of each file (possibly losing the start so that it always starts on a multiple of 8 bytes) until the next multiple of 2 KB is reached. It looks like the Opera file system is using the phrase as padding.

If your file system is based on fixed-sized blocks (like most file systems), you'll have wasted space at the end of each file. Using an instantly recognisable string is a nice debugging aid when you're trying to debug the file system. |
