Title: UQM 0.5.0 Installation error: "connecting to host"
Post by: Wes M on February 21, 2006, 07:10:06 pm
I would like to know if I am installing UQM correctly.
I do not have an internet connnection at home, so I copied the following 2 files to my home computer:
uqm-0.5.0-content.uqm.zip
uqm-0.5.0-installer.exe
Those are the only two items in the directory-in-question, and I am trying to install the Minimum game.
I then launch the installer and specify where to install the game, and where to locate the content (that directory).  It begins to install and then when the progress bar reaches about half-way, an error window pops up.  The text in this window reads:
Could not install the package uqm-0.5.0-content.uqm due to the following error: "connecting to host".  THIS IS A MANDATORY PACKAGE.  Without this package, The Ur-Quan Masters 0.5.0 will NOT run.  Do you want to retry from a different mirror?
It then has a "yes" button and a "no" button.  Since I cannot get to a different mirror-site, I click "no".
This sounds to me like the installer is unable to work without using the internet, but your FAQs state otherwise.
Am I doing something wrong?
Or, is there a problem with the version 0.5.0 installer?
Thanks in advance,
-Wes

Remove the spurious .zip extension from uqm-0.5.0-content.uqm (some browsers seem to add an extra .zip extension). If that doesn't work, make sure that the current directory is the directory in which both installer and content is when you run the installer.

Thank you, removing the ".zip" did the trick.
