Title: movie 4 Post by: Slylendro on March 08, 2006, 11:10:50 am Hello everyone it's been long 3 months, I'm here until sunday, then I gotta return to the base, it is too much *fun*!
today I compiled a few scenes I rendered before the army: movie 4 (http://uqm.stack.nl/files/other/slylendro/movie4.avi) have fun and share us what you think :] Title: Re: movie 4 Post by: Zeep-Eeep on March 08, 2006, 01:44:39 pm I would say this new movie is your smoothest and
definately the best background sound yet. Great graphics, great music and good motion. I'm very impressed. Title: Re: movie 4 Post by: Novus on March 08, 2006, 02:38:50 pm Nice visuals here, Slylendro. I think your motion control has developed noticeably since your last video. The Avatar is a bit static, though (and I would have expected some more activity from the ZapSats, too).
The sound production is also quite good, with just the right amount of well-timed sound effects. "March to Doom" (from Command & Conquer, a fine soundtrack by Frank Klepacki (http://www.frankklepacki.com/)) works nicely as background music here. Title: Re: movie 4 Post by: guesst on March 08, 2006, 05:31:12 pm That Chmmr takes it in the exhaust! The sats don't even take a obligatory pick at the shot comming in.
Just a thought, but you may want to look at the work of someone who went professional. http://www.navone.org/Media/Movies/ZeroG.mov is a similar space dogfight but that has much more energy. Nothing against what you've done but check out the use of palcement in the fram and camera movement to do inject some energy. Title: Re: movie 4 Post by: Vux_Brush on March 08, 2006, 08:13:09 pm cool stuff :) No need to answer, but just in case you'r in the mood to say which package was used (just some sick kindof curiosity of mine ) Title: Re: movie 4 Post by: ^Nytro^ on March 08, 2006, 11:18:24 pm Wow, thats really impressive, I didnt yet see your previous movies but this thing really give a new prespective to the star control epic.
the only thing I regret to see is that you used models which are highly (too highly) inspired from SC3. the dreadnaught turned out good but I never liked sc3's Chmmr Avatar. Other than that it's incredible. Man, fan made stuff really can step it up to a level of a movie. I mean - technology surely isn't the thing that prevents a full-length fan made SC movie from being created. Title: Re: movie 4 Post by: guesst on March 09, 2006, 01:13:04 am The Chmmr was actually a model based on illustrations in the original SC2 manual. (I think I was actually around when the model was introduced.) It looks nothing like the in-game picture, true, but it's not SC3 inspired either.
Now, if I had made it I would have put effort into making it look like the one on the 3DO rotation video. It's a bit shorter than the in-game version, but I like it. That's some great stuff there man, i especially like it that the zapsats actually have a '3D' orbit around the avatar and don't just spin around the sides of the ship and that the ur-quan don't just have a perfect aimed blast. 8) .:: EDIT ::. Oh i noticed the Babylon 5 inspired hyperspace portals, that brings back some memories ;D Title: Re: movie 4 Post by: staar on March 09, 2006, 04:37:30 pm now if only it could be made into star control 2 kinda like a SC2 revival like a midway chest or capcom's classics game... that will be the day~
