So what’s up with the Ariloulaleelay. Give me your opinions on them.

We are their favored tool, which will, in time, serve them well.

To that extent, they are our allies.

We don't have enough information to tell when they will be done with us, or whether their use for us will be a role we will appreciate at the time.

I do not think they care very much what we feel; or, they consider other things much more important. Whether we would agree if we knew what they do is unknown, and would kind of be necessary to determine whether they fall into the 'good' or 'evil' camp completely.

That said, they are at neither extreme.

Your explanation sounds a bit like the Ur-Quan’s relationship with the Dnyarri.

Just a random thought, the Arilou like to refers to us as their children. I was thinking that this may be more literal than figurative. Perhaps humans are primitive descendance of a group of Arilou. Or perhaps a devolution experiment. The Arilou did say that they knew the first human.

Anyhow just a random speculation on my part.

Any thoughts?

The Arilou are a plot device meant to give us some sense of back story that may have never been fleshed out. But by clever use of smoke and mirrors they give forum goers something to chew on a decade or more after they were concieved.

*laf* Well, that may have seemed a bit serious, but I was trying to kid around.

Ha ha ha
Well it’s still a lot of fun to speculate, especially on something as ambiguous as the Arilou.

I'll vote Good. They're helpful, if nothing else. Also, one gets
the impression they've been watching over us in a protective
manner for some time.

I have to agree, I've never seen the Arilou do anything bad in SC2 or in SC3 but in both games they helped.  The storyline w/r/t the crucible of sentience, also puts them in the good/protective category relative to humans.

I was wondering if there were any more theories on the subject of the Arilou’s relationship to humanity. Let’s discuss this.

I know what it says in SC3 but I like to ignore SC3 as much as I can get away with, though I do use it in some of my theories on occasions.

While I know most of the SC fans discount SC3, I would never have discovered the SC series without it.  It was given to me as a present one year, I believe... anyhow, back to the point.  My personal opinion reflects fairly closely that of what SC3 illustrated as being their true intentions towards humanity.  Much of their behaviour seems manipulative... for instance, the Portal Spawner (or is it the HyperWave Caster, I can't remember?) that they give you so far into the game... why not just show up at the beginning and hand it to us then?  It seems to me like they only help us when it benefits them... if I may make a comparison to what I perceive the Airlou to be: the Taelons from Earth Final Conflict... they appear to us claiming to be friends, but at the same time are trying to manipulate us and shape us into tools to serve their purposes.
