Title: OpenAL problem under WinXP
Post by: Selpher on March 18, 2006, 10:07:37 pm
Hi, I'm having a strange problem with what seems to be the sound card. I used to be able to successfuly open the program and run it, but I think I somehow screwed up the sound settings inside the game. Anyhow, the DOS box gives me this feedback window. The game window is just a black screen.

Couldn't Initialize OpenAL: 40961
Sound Driver Initialization Failed.
This may happen when a soundcard is not present or not available.

Thing is, it ran perfectly fine before I tweaked the ingame settings. Is there a way that I can force all settings back to default outside of the program?

Try deleting your settings file. See here (http://uqm.stack.nl/wiki/The_Ur-Quan_Masters_Technical_FAQ#Where_are_my_settings_stored.3F) for information on where it's stored. Alternatively, you could try changing the settings from the command line (http://uqm.stack.nl/wiki/The_Ur-Quan_Masters_Technical_FAQ#How_do_I_change_my_settings.3F).
