Title: Homeworld Fleets
Post by: Eco-Mono on March 20, 2006, 01:18:14 am
Quick question: how many ships are actually in a homeworld fleet? Is it actually an infinite number, or something more like 255?

An infinite amount as far as I know.

An infinite number, I think.

There is nothing in the text files of the game related with what should happen when you conquer a world, so I suppose it's impossible.

Every time you kill a ship in an infinite fleet, its crew is refilled to max, the captain's name changed and the ship put back into battle. Internally, you're just killing the same ship over and over again.

Yep, trying to beat a homeworld fleet is a perfect exercise in futility. However, it can make for an interesting competition among friends; ie. how many ships do you manage to kill off before you're blasted into oblivion. :D

it would be kinda cool to be able to dominate a homeworld though

Actually an even better spot for that kind of contest is the Sa-Matra system.  That's actually a bit fun - take a saved game where you have resources enough to do what you want and then pick out a team of escorts then go (don't use the toady dweeb) attack the Sa-Matra.  Bonus if you get to see the Sa-Matra itself  ;D

WOW!!

you propably can get through the "circling" dreadnoughts with use of the escape-warp-device and the weird collision-check "bug"...
