Title: Scale2x as SaI replacement? Post by: leonard on December 20, 2002, 06:35:16 am I was looking through the change logs and saw that the SuperSaI and 2xSaI interpolation have been removed in 0.2 due to GPL incompatibilities. Just wondering if anyone has been looking into replacing those w/ Scale2x (http://scale2x.sourceforge.net/), which is compatible w/ the GPL.

Post by: Mika on December 20, 2002, 04:06:59 pm I tried it back then but it didn't look quite as good as sai or supersai (advancemame scale2x is meant for more cartoonish graphics than uqm has). Though adding it doesn't hurt, so I might implement it too as someone might like the effect more than I did.

Its author, Derek Liauw Kie Fa, claims it's ok to use his piece of work under GPL licence. Here's the quote regarding this issue taken from the project's page:
Quote 2xSaI is free under GPL. I hope you'll give me appropriate credit. I used the code from snes9x emulator (because it was converted to SDL), but the snes9x code is licensed under different terms (I think the original author has given their permission for that). So I will need to do the conversion to SDL myself later, or something like that. |
