Title: Does anyone know how to run this off a USB key?
Post by: Katadare on August 17, 2006, 10:47:45 pm
Hi All,

My friend just introduced me to SC2 and I am HOOKED!
I was just wondering if there was a way to make SC2 run off the USB Key.

I understand that the saves are saved in your user directory...
Is there anyway to get it to save, say, on the USB Key?

Thanks!

Yes, run "uqm --help" and you'll get a list of commandline options, among which is "--configdir".

Hmmm.... That's very interesting.  Literally Plug and Play.

Katadare:  Did you get the chance to send an e-mail to Alex Ness about releasing a new Star Control?

What I did was run the installer, telling it to put the game on my USB key, copying the data from my current install. Then I but a batch file on the thumbdrive telling it to run the game with the appropriate parameters ( --configdir=.\ )

I just copied all the uqm contents to my USB key after installing it on my C:

I made a shortcut to uqm.exe within the UQM directory in my USB key, with the following paramaters in the field called target:
Quote
uqm.exe -C uqm -n content --addon remix --logfile logfile.txt
