Title: Gas Giant Graphical errors Post by: CaptainJay on September 11, 2006, 01:33:58 am (http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/8703/urquanerror1tu8.jpg)
I can't land / do anything on the gas giants I need some help but not sure if this is a bug or a settings error or what not so it's why I'm not bothering with bugzilla or so on. Help would be appreciated. Title: Re: Gas Giant Graphical errors Post by: Culture20 on September 11, 2006, 02:17:08 am "Land" on the "Gas Giants"
You never know what you might find on a gas giant, but land is never on one. Title: Re: Gas Giant Graphical errors Post by: CaptainJay on September 11, 2006, 02:22:34 am I didn't ask for a smartass remark; just trying to figure out whats wrong and get it fixed. "hover" "Fly in the atmosphere" or whatever the term is; technicality regaurding the term "land" using the "planet-lander" is not the kind of answer I'm looking for.
If you know how to fix the issue or have an idea be my guest; please do respond... but smartass comments are not something I want :( All I want to do is try the damned game without using the saved games from http://dickweed.0nyx.com/index.html Title: Re: Gas Giant Graphical errors Post by: Yuptar on September 11, 2006, 03:52:03 am To put what Culture20 said into more direct form: You cannot land on a Gas Giant and you don't need to at any point in the game anyway.

Oh really? That's not what the Starbase commander says at one point of the game; declaring that there's possibly a Heiarchy spy at uranus. Now... How about I get some intelligent replies please? Title: Re: Gas Giant Graphical errors Post by: Yuptar on September 11, 2006, 05:14:49 am "Or in that general direction..."
There is another planet in that general direction. Once again, there is no need to land on a gas giant in this game. Only in one case will there be anything of interest on a gas gient, and even then you don't land, just communicate. Title: Re: Gas Giant Graphical errors Post by: CaptainJay on September 11, 2006, 05:46:24 am The big problem with this is; it's annoying. What say you; if I WANT to survey a gas giant? I mean ... I used to be able to ... which is the biggest thing that puzzles me x.x perhaps its a version thing? because in .4 I could ; and suddenly I wasn't able to and then i installed .5.....
and then reformated my pc due to other reasons and couldn't in .5 once again. Title: Re: Gas Giant Graphical errors Post by: Draxas on September 11, 2006, 04:35:19 pm You're imagining things. Landing on gas giants has been impossible since SC2's first version in DOS. I think that you *might* have been able to scan them in the old versions, but since you can't actually send a lander down, that's pretty redundant. However, it's important to note that scanning gas giants has been impossible in every version of UQM I've played, which goes back to 0.3.

All in all, I'm not quite sure what you're complaining about and I fail to see how this is an error, let alone a graphical error. Title: Re: Gas Giant Graphical errors Post by: CaptainJay on September 12, 2006, 12:33:04 am There should be interesting stuff on gas giants like.... random secret hidden 'fuel' depos where you'd pay like 10x the normal RU needed for Fuel.
Would make the game more interesting. Title: Re: Gas Giant Graphical errors Post by: Death 999 on September 23, 2006, 06:10:47 pm Random secret dumps? I think that's what every other planet in the galaxy amounts to.

Would make the game more interesting. Yeah, that sounds like fun... not. It's already tiresome enough to search normal planets for resources. |
