Title: Snapshots and the new "flight.cfg" BUG
Post by: Defender on April 01, 2007, 06:04:24 am
I was messing around with the latest snapshot 02713-20070329.0800. and when I use my controller, the ships spin out of control or if I'm in the menu selection screen, it will cycle uncontrollably.

If I just use the keyboard every thing's fine, but as soon as I touch the direction pad on my controller the above problem happens.

I think I've narrowed it down to the fact that I can reproduce this in version 6.2 by setting the "Joystick Threshold" to zero. I noticed in the new "flight.cfg" there is no option to set the joystick threshold. Is there something I'm not seeing or is just not complete yet?

Just thought I'd let someone know since I, myself, have no account to post this on bugzilla.

EDIT: I was taking a look at the CVS and it seems Michael Martin is responsible for the reworking of the Vcontrol...I blame him ;D

Sorry to dig up an old topic.  It's me, again, the author of the GP2X port of UQM.  I have noticed this same problem.

I've looked through the code and it does, indeed, appear that joystick thresholds can no longer be set with the new VCONTROL changes.

I will submit this to the bug database (along with another bug I am procrastinating about) unless anyone objects.  I am getting the same cycling through the menus the moment you press any direction of the joystick.   My solution is going to have to involve setting the threshold through another custom configuration file until this bug is resolved.

Thanks for the reply, I thought I was going nuts ;D Hopefully it will be fixed before next release.

This is why bugs should be reported in our bug database; a dev sees a report on this board, doesn't have the time at the moment, and the bug gets forgotten.

It only takes a minute to create a bugzilla account, and if you're afraid that we're going to abuse your email address, use a throw-away mail account.

Alright, alright, I'm going to go make one, quit poking... ;)

Edit: Bug 1026 is me.

Just for the record, I really don't check the forum often, while Bugzilla stuff goes straight to my inbox.  If you suspect something is my fault, as you did in this case, you'll get phenomenally better turnaround that way.
