The Ur-Quan Masters Discussion Forum

Hi all.  I love this game, but when I play it I can't help but think of an old game I played on my father's computer years ago.  I don't recall any resource gathering or the like, but the battles have similair controls to my memory except that the game I'm thinking of was a much closer view.  What really reminds me of it though are the Ur-Quan Dreadnought and the Ilwrath Avenger.  Both are incredibly similair to ships I recall from the game and I'd even go as far to say they are identical seeing as I remember one of the first "missions" you can get is retrieving a replacement cloaking device for an Avenger like ship.

Anyone have any idea what game I might be thinking of so I can finally stop wondering about it at the very least?

I've got no idea, but I'll tell you that the Dreadnoughts' design is inspired by the design of the Battlestar Galactica, and the Avengers' design is inspired by the design of the Klingonian Birds of Prey from Star Trek.

So it's strange that that game had similar designs.

As a sidenote, I had some time ago, when playing Star Control 2 for the first time, the strong impression that I've played it before, though I hadn't. It's the effect of the brilliancy with which Star Control is designed.

There was an even older game, there were only two ships to choose from.
The graphics were vector 2 color graphics.
The ships were circular and one of them had a laser weapon like arilu.
I fyou go to one side of the screen you will appear on the other side, but the screen was static and no zooming were done.
Do you know of this game?

Sounds like some early Spacewar clone, but I don't remember one with circular ships.

It was a really old one definitly with circle ships.
