Post by: freakypred on May 14, 2007, 06:19:12 am
im making a trainer for version 0.6.2 , it will include unlimited money, credit, fuel, crew, and alternate menu.

as soon as i can figure out how to put things together, il release it for the site so you all can enjoy the game as you'v always wanted.

I'm already enjoying the game the way I've always wanted thanks. But good job anyhow I suppose.

I guess if you really want unlimited RUs, crew, etc, you could just use the lander cheat from the original PC version. Just play it in DOSbox.

Doesn't give you unlimited Credits though, just RU's.

I never got how this usage of the word 'trainer' came about.

I mean, sure, it buffs you up, but it does so by means which completely do not resemble 'training'.

"Honey, we're low on cash. I'm going to go hit the trainer and have $65536 added to my bank account." ZAP!
"*pant pant pant* Man, I'm getting tired. I can't do that again. Gotta hit the trainer and have my lactic acid levels reduced. And maybe give myself a heart upgrade." ZAP!

Maybe you're supposed to use a trainer just to practice the game.

The only thing you really need practice with is the melee portion, and you can practice in super melee.

But at the same time, sometimes its fun to just play the game for dialogue, and not worry about mining.

I always interpreted "trainer" as training the game to do what the player wants, not the other way around. Maybe that's a bit *too* convoluted, though.

Interesting interpretation. makes more sense even if it is a bit convoluted.

I like the image of someone holding a chair and a whip and telling the game what to do.

But that's what the savegame editors are for, if you like that kind of thing.

AFAIK the word "trainer" can also refer to flight simulator used in e.g. pilot's training programs.

Perhaps it's possible that the use of the word is derived from there? In essence, a trainer is a machine/game that allows the operator to play without risk of harm or injury?

EDIT: also, in sports games, you can usually play in "training" mode, outside any matches or tournaments.
