Title: Your MVPs in Super Melee Post by: Captain Smith on January 08, 2003, 02:10:56 pm What are the ships that you have in most average groups on Melee that you do the best with? Your showstoppers in sense, the ones that are very hard to kill by anything and you always will win at least once against almost anything?
Other than the obvious (Chmmr, Chenjesu, the two Ur-Quan ships), mine are: Supox, Spathi, Utwig, Yehat, Mmrnmhrm, and Traddash. They usually shut down at least one, and sometimes many many more...The ZotFoqPik ship most times gets me a victory but he'll bite it on the second match... Title: Re: Your MVPs in Super Melee Post by: ranmafan on January 08, 2003, 03:25:14 pm My Utwigs used to be able to wipe out just about everything that came at them. So Utwigs it is.
Title: Supox Blade it is, for me at least Post by: Krulle on January 08, 2003, 03:35:51 pm Supox Blade it is, absolutly!
The only one i get problems fighting with is the Marauder and the Fury. Another one is the Utwig. the 3 next ones are Mmrnmhrm XYForm, Pkunk Fury and the Zoq-Fot-Pik Stinger (?). The "obvious" ones are not the ones i choose. (I prefer random chosen ones anyway). I dislike playing Kohr-Ah Marauder, Chenjesu Broodhome and Chmmr Avatar (all three are way too slow in accelerating, and i dislike their arms). The best one of your "obvious" ones is the Ur-Quan enslaver. Title: Re: Your MVPs in Super Melee Post by: Death 999 on January 08, 2003, 07:54:12 pm Don't forget the *sauce*! (i.e. Orz)
Thraddash are too easy to counter with a long-ranged unit which simply does not move. I like them though, since they can wipe out medium and short-ranged units which must move to meet them or be pecked to death by their pea shooter. And they're CHEAP. Of the fatties, I have to go with the Marauder. With them, a lot of a battle is how you set it up. Random mines, or a defensive region with lots of blades as shields? Especially critical against Dreadnoughts, so you needn't use a FRIED to counter the fighters. Anyway, they won the doctrinal war. Spathi are VERY strong against many types. And completely ineffective if your opponent hasn't used up his Cruisers. I am very sorry that most of my practice has had to come from SC3, since I love the Broodhome but am unable to use it. Its absence sort of gave you the hint that the Bifurcator wouldn't work. Title: Thraddashian Pressor Beam Post by: Dave Morse on January 10, 2003, 01:42:33 am Quote Thraddash are too easy to counter with a long-ranged unit which simply does not move. Don't forget the Thraddashian Pressor Beam, which accellerates an enemy away from you so you can go pass it and lay fire in its path. If you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, try hitting the burner right before you ram the enemy ship.Title: Re: Your MVPs in Super Melee Post by: sun on January 10, 2003, 06:03:43 am Dave...maybe your still using the .1 version with poor collision detection?
What kind of ship is Ur-Quan Enslaver that someone else mentioned? Something from SC3? Title: Re: Your MVPs in Super Melee Post by: ranmafan on January 10, 2003, 07:52:04 am Nah, he probably means the Ur Quan Dreadnought.
Hm, you're right about the Spathi being powerful though, although a little goading can make them easy prey. Title: Re: Your MVPs in Super Melee Post by: Krulle on January 10, 2003, 11:32:28 am Yes i meant the dreadnought! Bye!
Title: Re: Your MVPs in Super Melee Post by: hihhu on January 10, 2003, 04:37:48 pm Fury, Mauler, Probe. Mostly because they are the only ships I ever specifically learned to fly. The probe would be a real killer if it wasn't just about the biggest ship in the game. You should add the Utwig to the list of obvious ships, you don't even have to know how to aim with that thing...
