Title: Anyone try this game?
Post by: AngusThermopyle on February 17, 2008, 08:42:02 pm
Sins of a Solar Empire (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/sinsofasolarempire) just came out. Looks like an interesting blend of Homeworld and Master of Orion. I've been on a lengthy MoO1 binge lately, so this caught my interest.

Any first-hand comments for this one?

A friend of mine has this. He said the different factions are too similar, but it's not a bad game. Posting this as a filler response until someone who's played Sins of a Solar Empire comes around.

Heh tbh it plays like Haegemonia crossed with Conquest: Frontier Wars if you ask me ;)

There's a demo here (http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/11955/Sins+of+a+Solar+Empire+Demo) if you're interested.

well since my dad got me heavily into this game i must say the game is a fantastic way to kill A LOT of time.

The scale is fantastic, i love zooming up to the little bombers and looking at the level of detail.
it has a nice learning curve.

I'd love to toy around with making an SC2 mod for it, but i don't have the experience nor the skill to pull it off, I tried, but failed, miserably.

perhaps when i get the time, i'll get a few Hi-Res screenshots and post em here for ya'll.
don't have internet at home anymore so i'll probably post em tomorrow. (i'm at the lybary)
