Your site has too many different colors. And there should never be any moving or blinking objects.

I hope you will fix these points.

Good point. You are absolutely right about the colors.
Thanks!

When I tried to load the page it crashed my browser. (Of course, I had like 12 other tabs open, but still...)

Cool page, I like it, you need more content  but that takes time.

One thing I dont like though, when you click on a section, underneath the Green nav bar is this rose coloured bar that says where I am (like 'Wallpapers'). I dont think it adds anything, and I think it just clashes visually.

Personally, I'm not too fond of very intensive websites, and especially not sites using Java applets...

The content you're featuring (especially your work for Nicholai's mod) is excellent, though.. Good job! :)

Like the changes.

Under links, Id add the Toys for Bob page. Though it doesnt get updated alot, they are the creators and people who love SC might be interested in other games developed by the twin gods FF and PRIII (http://www.toysforbob.com/)

And also the Ultronomicon (http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/Main_Page)

I added thus links. Thanks for advise. :D

I also loaded some upgrades like the www-formmailer which lets you mail an email from an www page. ( hope that works! :D)
There is also a new bling-bling -php-thing: a online counter! (it shows how many people are online, hope that it work too! I'm not a wisard with these things.. :P)

Then the NOT good news: Zymics server doesn't let my gallery use phps 'mail function' so it cant send mails to users. my other server does let use the function but doesn¨t support MySQL which is required for program. So what to do?? :-[

ADDON EDIT:
I solved gallery problem by deleting it >:(
There is some new wallpapers and guestbook is now working.

ADDON EDIT (5. July)
I'm going to move my site to 000webhosting.com server because of downtimes and other problems with Zymic.com.
I will notify here when work is done.

ADDON EDIT ( 13. July)
I've decide to make new layout for my site! And I also add lots of new content to my site!
I think that I get this thing ready in couple weeks.

I suggest everyone completely disregard what I'm about to say now about the wallpapers-section of that webpage...

...1280 x 1024 isn't 4:3.

You're absolutely right about the thing. 1280 : 1024 makes 1,25, not 1,33 as 4 : 3 makes, so the right resolution is 1280 x 960 pixels.

---

I've been traveling / hiking in Finlands lapland about two weeks, so I haven't post anything here or updated *juicy*.
Next updates will be:
-Fix the downloads bug
-Add more Photoshops
-Add Forums???
Then comes question for you: Do we need forums for *juicy*?
#cons:
We allready have these forums, and Pages now and forever does have foorums and there is couple other SC related forums too I think.
#pros:
Forums would help to create a community, make contacting easier and would be easier way to me and others share content.

.... And then I you want forums I have another question for you. Do you like read black on white or white on black

EDIT: Just add one question and make this clearer
1. Does *juicy* need forums?
2. Do you like black on white or white on black?
3. What kind of a contect you want from my site?

I don't think it's a good idea to have so many subforums. SCDB does that too, and they look vacant because of it. All three of the "Main" subforums could easily be smooshed down to one. I like the way the new forum looks. Nicer than this place, certainly.

It does look nice. But if this site is to succeed, with the PNF, SCDB, deviantArt group, UQM forums, and Ultronomicon already established, you need something which sets it apart. You need something which people can only find on your site, or something which they can find there more easilly. Just looking pretty isn't enough to get people to come back.

Also, you probably mean "All rights reserved". "All rights reversed" means something else, though I don't know what exactly. :)

Not bad.. I like the file attach ability. Has potential. I agree that your site needs to have something new to offer.

True.  Maybe the three forums can... maybe... form an alliance.  Hee hee.

One thing I noticed about the Star Control forums is that usually, there's not a lot of updates other than very few people replying to one topic.  For example, the bump thread for a new Star Control thread is starting to die off.  If you can update your forum with some cool stuff frequently and encourage people to reply, it will definitely start growing.  If you know how to use Google Webmaster tools, that would help with getting Star Control fans to find your site.

It's great that more people are creating dedicated fan sites out there.  So, I decided to add links to your sites to my blog.

By the way, the Star Control wallpaper is a nice touch too.

This is a good point. Even during high activity times the SCDB looks very vacant, since most activity is concentrated to the Off Topic board. Your forum looks nice and all, but there's a limited amount of fans out there. Most of them hang here. Unless you can figure out a way to bring in a lot of new people, you're going to have trouble attracting a large enough base.

You could also let Scott over on SCDB know and ask him to make a newspost, that'd get you a little more exposure.

But that might look better to outsiders than just having one, which would make us look irrelevant ;D
I was, but I'm not anymore.
What happened, or is this just part of avoiding us since coming back from vacation?

Not trying to be discouraging, but I agree with all above who have pointed out that *juicy* needs a niche. Either something tangible that they won't find anywhere else, or a community which has a flavour different to those found elsewhere (a place for people banned from all the other forums for example  :P). I can't think of anything which isn't already covered though.

Maybe it would help for people to say what they would like which they can't find anywhere else.

I understand that *juicy* needs content what other site doesn't have. I'm right now downloading some SC-related videos, which can be watched from *juicy* online, in future. Also I've been loading huge amount of SC-pictures and making galleries of them, so future updates will add lots of visual content. If someone has pictures, videos or anything else content, please send it and your name/nick to my email.

Ideally, you'd want something which will cause people to come back. That means either regularly new content, or something which can be used as a reference.
Maybe you could host some sort of Star Control based game. A bit like the role playing as on the SCDB, but then different.

Heh, nothing really. There's no drama involved, and I'll be back when the time is right.

This is hard. I usually don't know what I like before I see it. A nifty interface that lets you design stories?

He could host the frungy_lovers story archive or something. That place is pretty active and creative.

Wasn't there another role playing form as well, that Pelork did? I recall some sort of board format where you built fleets and moved them. Some sort of automated board game with an SC theme would probably draw a lot of people. But then again, it's a lot of work as well.

Maybe it could be the home of some huge star control related project, like UQM or ultronomicon in scope but the sort of thing most people could do and contribute to, so it's not a mountain of work for you. Again, can't think of anything.

The idea about some kind of really addictive (but which isn't too big a timewaster to be involved with) SC game sounds interesting.

Mini Star Control flash games!

And later on, larger ones.

Is there some SC flashgames already (I will gladly host them!),and if not, how can I or somebody else make flash games
without buying some software? I don't myself know any freeware flash game maker.

I have some visions about doing a UQM Fan Id's and pages. People would add their own fan identities and make own pages to there.
Cons and problems that I figure:
- forums make almost same job
- I don't have enough PHP skills to make it automate, so I had to add id's and pages manually

This is just but a draft sketch but..

Check out Pelorki (http://starcontrol.classicgaming.gamespy.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=117), and especially this thread (http://starcontrol.classicgaming.gamespy.com/forum/index.php?topic=876.0). The links all seem to be dead now, but I remember going there and there being all sorts of statistics fro different fleets and players.

Eth over on SCDB does flash, but he seems to I doubt he'd have time for this. If there are other flash people around, I don't know them. Sorry :(

As for the Id, I'm not too excited but others might be.

Sometimes have been couple minutes downtimes because of overload on MySQL server (I'm using free hosting and server is shared for dozens of accounts). Come back after couple minutes or try to refresh couple times. At the moment forums seems to be ok.

I don't want to say I told you so, but...

Anyhow, it's really weird. On the 18th I couldn't access the site at all, from several computers. Yesterday I could, but I didn't try posting. And now it's apparently out again? Stop messing with the  Orz, before they take you for good.

Some cool updates, like logo, all audio-visual-fun stuff smashed up into one section called *playground* and downloads now working!

Also! You can now upload files under 2mb to UQMFAH!

Btw. like 45% of my visitors are from USA, 40% from Finland and the most of the rest are from Europa.

EDIT: I know, new background is horrible  :-\  I  thought that it would be cool but....

I'll be honest here. I don't like the name *juicy*. But I see the layout is constantly improving and the site can still work out. Sa-Matra.net seems to have gone splat, so there's a void you can fill. Put the game's entire dialogue up in a place that's easy to find.
