Title: de cleansing mod - spoilers? Post by: dogeddie on November 12, 2008, 11:17:08 pm Are there any drawbacks to using this mod? I am a new player that spazzes out at time constraints.
Btw - what is the date that the game ends in normal mode? Title: Re: de cleansing mod - spoilers? Post by: dogeddie on November 15, 2008, 04:40:50 pm Please? :'(
Title: Re: de cleansing mod - spoilers? Post by: meep-eep on November 15, 2008, 05:10:12 pm The sense of urgency adds to the atmosphere of the game. I'd advice you to just start over if you run out of time, instead of using cheats like this. That said, I know of no other drawbacks to using the mod.
You normally have exactly 4 years before the bad guys win. After that, you still have a little while to save Earth, but the rest of the universe may suffer. You can postpone the deadline by one year by completing a subplot. Title: Re: de cleansing mod - spoilers? Btw - what is the date that the game ends in normal mode? Well I know I'm late to the "game" but, Quote The Ur-Quan Masters 0.6.0 Mods The Time Mod: The Time Mod "extends" time by a factor of 12. So instead of Interplanetary being 30 seconds for a full day, it is now 4 minutes. And instead of hyperspace being 5 seconds for a full day, it is now 1 minute. The De-Cleansing Mod: The De-Cleansing Mod pushes the Kohr-Ah "cleansing" event 100 years forward so you have plenty of time to do your own cleansing. The FMV Mod: The FMV Mod adds support for EVERY FMV from the SC2 3DO CD, The Crystal Dynamics Logo, Ship Spins, Intro, Ending, and the "Demo FMV" which is basically a long 3DO commercial you get to see if you sit on the main menu for 20 seconds. The only adverse effect that the "De-Cleansing Mod" might have is that it won't work past a certain point. The point being is if the Kohr-Ah have already started to do their "Death March" this little mod won't work, which is why I included the "Time Mod" to slow time down for the people that have already crossed the point of no return. The "FMV Mod" was purely for my own entertainment ;D I also do other entertaining mods here and there but again it's mostly for my own entertainment EX: Ship Editing, System Creating, All around foolery I once made a sphere of influence for the humans and was able to get it to work by accident ;D EDIT / UPDATE: I just want to take this time to announce that I've updated the mods and added Mac OS X binaries for the most recent version of UQM (0.6.2). another update, the binaries i made only work on intel macs :P once i get the other imac (ppc) to run i'll create a "universal" binary. But what is the .diff patch file? Do I need it for a Windows install? Thanks

But what is the .diff patch file? Do I need it for a Windows install? Thanks The diff is the change to the source code; it's much easier to see what has changed and apply it to a different version of UQM that way. You don't need it if you have a modified executable for your system.Title: Re: de cleansing mod - spoilers? Post by: dogeddie on December 16, 2008, 06:08:12 pm Thanks Novus. The fact that I don't understand anything you just said suggests to me that I do not need the .diff file. I assume this is for people who compile game files and whatnot; not a simple Joe like me who merely downloaded the game and only wants to play. ??? (without a time limit) ;)

The fact that I don't understand anything you just said suggests to me that I do not need the .diff file. I'm going to steal that expression and start using it for other stuff. It's heartwarmingly honest and amusing at the same time. Title: Re: de cleansing mod - spoilers? Post by: Novus on December 17, 2008, 07:59:02 am Thanks Novus. (without a time limit) ;) You assume correctly; the diff is useless unless you're a programmer or compiling UQM.Title: Re: de cleansing mod - spoilers?
