Title: Your best ships
Post by: jaychant on December 19, 2008, 08:30:24 pm
Which ships are you best at controlling?

My answer:

Slylandro; I have become quite skilled at zipping through the enemy's attacks and attacking the other ship in a similar fasion that the cyborg fights you.

Cruiser vs. cyborg; This is because being able to exploit the cyborg's weaknesses with a Cruiser is a very essential skill when being the bad guy.

Also, what are your worst ships?

My answer:

Drone; We all know why ::)

So? What about you guys?

I guess my speciality is Supox.

Worst is definitely Melnorme.

(keeping it simple)

(http://img381.imageshack.us/img381/4830/screenvictoryxv7.png) (http://www.imagehosting.com/)

That's a screenshot of my recent melee performence against the Awesome Cyborg. I wasn't very tactical in this game, in every single battle I just zipped in and attacked relentlessly with lightning until either:
- one of the ships was destroyed
- the Probe's battery ran out, in which case I zipped out to grab an asteroid
- I was unable to keep up with the other ship, in which case I wrapped screen
- I was taking damage without being able to hit the opponent, in which case I zipped out and waited (for a couple seconds) for a better oppertunity

So why am I showing this off? Well, if I wasn't tactical, and the AI is an inhuman sharpshooter, I must have been somewhat good at dodging the projectiles.

Particularly good matchup: VUX was completely pulverized.

Embarrassing matchup: When the Scout warped in, I mindlessly attacked it just like any other ship. When I made my first attack, it detonated itself, then I realized what the ship was.

I'm just bragging here since this thread looked so empty. :P

Also, I fought a fleet of Pkunk with a fleet of Slylandro 7:7. The game says I destroyed 4; In reality I destroyed about 15 (because they were regenerating so much).

I suggest bragging about fights against human opponents. The AI is stupid and can be tricked in many ways.

Oh I love the good old Pkunk and not just because you can re-spawn, I love the super maneuverability and being able to run away very quickly. Also there is something deeply satisfying about being able to hurl insults at your opponents.

My worst would have to be the Mycon due to its lack of maneuverability, I feel like a sitting duck and a very big one at that.

Tricking AI's is fun, they're so predictable at times.

Well, I'm somewhat good at controlling a Mmrnmhrm (thus I use it so often). The Chmmr is mostly a no-brainer, so I guess I can use that somewhat well, too.

I could use some serious improvement with Kohr-Ah, Utwig, Druuge and Melnorme - most of the heavy-hitters ;). I'm also not too good with Slylandro or Chenjesu. And with Umgah, I'm horrible. Can't use the retro-propulsion for squat :P

This isn't even a particularly good run for me. :P Although it was pretty cool killing an Orz when I had two limpets on from the last fight.

So, yeah. Best ship Dill-rat Avenger

I've done fights against humans. Only problem is, with the net delay, I'm not used to that speed. I'm used to the Slylandro being ultra-fast. I hate net delay. >:( Why is it there anyways?

I feel sorry for you, EP. I hope you haven't completely wasted your life on UQM. :P

I have difficulties following the logic of that line. How could life be "wasted" on UQM?

I'm pretty good flying Mycons and Chenjesu , really bad with Slylandro and Umgah .
Those are against AI and local PC  fights against not the best pilot out there .

For me, Kohr-Ah is the _easiest_ ship to play. I cannot say what ship I play the best.

My worst ship? Mycon, maybe.

On other note, I can't beat the AI controlled umgah. Any hints?

Although I am supreme newb to any kind of super melee I very early became fond of two ships - the Pkunk Fury (for it's agility and combat insults  ;D )  and Melnorme Trader (very good primary weapon and I like captain Greenish). Currently I'm trying to master Arilou and Kohr-Ar, the latter being somewhat more difficult than the Skiff :p

Sigh... true true..   I can't wipe out the whole hierarchy side with my syreen against a human opponent. :)

Surely you know that I wasn't being serious? <_< (Heck, I've hardly got a life.)

I think Shiver's goal in life is to get me banned... I didn't know you hated me THAT much. In that case, why don't you just stay put in the SCDB where I am already banned forever? But then again, you would have failed at your goal, right?

Of course I still think there was no one reason why I was banned from the SCDB... Sedodes complained about all my "junk posts", while some were complaining about my childish behavior (the more sensible beings...). Shiver must just hate me because I wrongly believed I was great at Melee and I never said "Sorry I didn't bow down and submit to your overwhelming power, almighty Shiver the Great". So Shiver is yet another guy who is just being dumb about things. Grow up, Shiver.

Hey what about that time you made some stupid threat about hacking into the forum or something. What that this forum or the other one?

The other one.

Threat? That was a diss, not a threat. And the SCDB community clearly knew that; Someone even told me they were just using that as an excuse to get me banned.

EDIT: Or maybe it was a sarcastic response to someone else's post.

EDIT2: I've found it (with a little help from anonymouse). I said this:
Quote
Yes, because I have the power to attack the SCDB with nuclear worms that will destroy the whole forum as well as PNF. ::)

Or maybe I could just spam this site until it finally crashes, but that would be boring... unless I create a robot to do it. :o
Which was in fact a sarcastic response to this post by Lukipela:

As I gather he registered a sockpuppet account after that and got his e-mail address and IP banned.

I did regester the sockpuppet, then I deleted it. I then found out a few days later that I was banned. Then I decided to come back to see if my IP had changed yet, which (if I'm not mistaken) happens regularly. I then decided to register an account for the sole purpose of responding to this thread.

Man this is a bad idea.

I was at the time trying to make my sarcasm clear with the rolleyes, the reference to "nuclear" worms, and the shock emoticon. I think most of the SCDB understood this.

Want proof? Eth said this:

Jaychant, no-one was under the impression that you were capable of carrying out those threats, or that they were intended seriously.  They were merely a convenient excuse to rid us of your obnoxious presence for a while.

Hey guys, cut Jaychant some slack. He makes much more coherent excuses than most annoying users. :)

Hey thanks EP doug! :)

Oh, btw Shiver: while I was surfing for those quotes in my last post, I found something: You hate me for being like a child at the SCDB, right? Well:
1. My maturity back then was comparable to a 6th grader (now it's more like an 8th grader. Yes, I am quite immature for my age. That's what 7 years of no conversation does to you, besides making you sad). I refused to accept my nerdy personality (BTW, not just nerd, gangsta nerd! :P) as well, and I was trying to prove that I wasn't.
2. Sedodes isn't awesome, either, you know. Heck, he's a grown man. You would think he would be more mature.
3. I haven't been acting the same way here since I re-joined
4. If you hate me that much, go back to the SCDB. I'm permanently banned from there anyways, and it's probably not getting reversed.

Thing is, Shiver, just because I made some stupid-ass mistakes in the SCDB doesn't mean I'm still like that. If you google my username, the banning of me doesn't even show up (a lot of the search gets pages for "Jay's Chant"; The ones related to me are, in order: WikiAnswers, this forum, and the GMC). Yes, retracing my steps, I was a dumbass near the end at the SCDB (and even here a little), but that hasn't stuck to my personality permanently.

I am not reading through all of that, let alone responding point by point.

Frankly I'm not surprised.

That was one of my four points. I'm already banned on the SCDB, so if I'm such a menace, just go back there and stay there. Otherwise, I guess you'll be dealing with me for a long time, so tough luck. I'm not going to get banned from here too.

I'll shut up.

To get back on subject. My best ship is a Mmrnmhrm because of the Y-Wing's ability to flee from the enemy when i am low on health, or just want to stay away from him. My worst is Melnorme because of the rediculous weapon it has.

Title: Re: Your best ships
Post by: jaychant on December 27, 2008, 02:58:36 pm
I used to hate the Melnorme too. But if you practice a little, you can turn it from a banana boat to a genuine ship destruction tool. The key is good aim, just like the Druuge.

I'm generally bad with most ships, but I seem to do good with the Spathi, particularly Fwiffo.  He must be good luck!

I'm surprised no one mentioned the Thraddash!  I can take just about any other ship 1:1 vs it.  Probes can be a hassle, but any "tough" ship that typically pursues you is dogmeat.

Ugh... Thraddash... Those are just so boring, I can't stand them! So painful...to shoot...with that peashooter...for ten straight hours!

I love piloting all starships

I'm a very bad pilot only with ARILOU and SLYLANDRO!
