It appears that if you play the Arilou and the Orz theme together, it fits pretty well, almost too well. They have the same Tempo, but the fact that the melodies are in tune with one another is pretty intriguing, isn't it? Perhaps this is a nod to the Orz's true identity? Consipiracy theories are fun :p. Title: Re: Interesting Find on Youtube... (Concerns Star Control 2) Post by: jaychant on January 20, 2009, 12:18:28 am WOW!!!! :o :o :o

Funny that they got put in for the ZFP, Orz and Arloo. Title: Re: Interesting Find on Youtube... (Concerns Star Control 2) Post by: Neonlare on January 20, 2009, 11:14:27 pm I just found it curious as to how those themes actually overlap one another really well.
Also, Dan Nicholson wrote the Arilou theme, wheras Eric Berge wrote the Orz theme, so the similarities doesn't have anything to do with the same artist. It's a coincidence I'm sure, but a neat one. This has a lot to do with how many SoundTracker modules (including those involved here) use the default 125 bpm tempo (which makes sense for PAL Amigas where you get 3000 screen refreshes per minute, so if you divide this by 6 (default speed) you get 500 rows per minute, i.e. each row is a semiquaver; in other words, this is the SoundTracker default because at this tempo, you can use PAL vertical refresh for timing). After that, it's just a question of writing in a similar key. |
