Title: Installaion Help.
Post by: Praise on March 22, 2009, 04:49:56 pm
Hi All,

Trying to install the game and for some reason the installer doesn't connect to the internet, perhaps this is because of some implemented firewall in my connection...
So I resorted to downloading the packages manually and after many a fight with the installer not wanting to install the content package, I found out that I firefox was simply not downloading the whole file.
Instead of the 11Mega file that was predicted I keep ending up with an 8-9 mega file...I've tried to download with explorer and no dice there either...bummer.

So is this a bad file posted?

The file posted on SourceForge (I assume that's where you're trying to download from) is probably OK; I suggest you try a different mirror or a download manager capable of resuming downloads.

I tried different mirrors of course, but the thing is the file seems to download fully. That's what threw me off in the beginning.
The file seems to download fully only it doesn't, it's not as if it downloads a part and than abruptly stops - it's status is if it downloaded fully. I'm using firefox, which has the possibility to resume downloads built in.
In addition my internet connection works fine and my download speed is as should be, so I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me if he had the same problem. Than perhaps I'd know if it's my computer, or if it's a server problem...

Downloading the main content package (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/sc2/uqm-0.6.0-content.uqm?download) works fine for me from both the Bologna and Dublin SF mirrors (using Firefox 3.0.7 on Linux).

If Firefox (and IE) says it has downloaded 11 MB but only saves 8-9 MB to disk, you may have a problem with the disk (such as being full). If it only downloads 8-9 MB and then thinks it's done, you may have a web proxy or other filter fiddling with your incoming traffic.

I've been having the same problem with the windows installer.  Maybe we need to download all the source files first and then try the installer?

It's worth a try; just download the packages you want and put them in the same directory as the installer before running it.
