One fewer obstacle to me become a moon pirate Title: Re: Water on moon Post by: SweetSassyMolassy on November 14, 2009, 04:35:15 am Hmmm... "25 gallons...a significant amount".
Title: Re: Water on moon Post by: Shiver on November 14, 2009, 06:14:09 am That's getting a thumbs up on my StumbleUpon page.
Title: Re: Water on moon Post by: Angelfish on November 14, 2009, 07:18:12 pm I already read that it was a significant amount, now this news article tells it's only 25 gallons :P.
Title: Re: Water on moon Post by: SweetSassyMolassy on November 14, 2009, 08:54:57 pm What the article is saying is that 25 gallons is a significant amount, which is puzzling to me.

Now, if it were beer then that'd be a significant amount if I drunk it all ;) Title: Re: Water on moon Post by: Dabir on November 15, 2009, 01:02:59 am What moon? Title: Re: Water on moon Post by: Lukipela on November 15, 2009, 07:18:58 pm What moon? (http://www.revisionism.nl/Moon/The-Mad-Revisionist.htm) Okay, that was pretty cool. Title: Re: Water on moon Post by: Arne on November 17, 2009, 02:08:54 am That's 25 gallon / 100 liters in the ejecta from a 20-30 meter crater? I don't know how much that is. Not completely dry for sure, but it might be too expensive to extract it. On the other hand, they hit a random spot. With some proper prospecting they could find a mother lode, perhaps?
Ganymedes and a bunch of other Jovian moons have a lot of water-ice, and some are believed to have subterranean oceans. If there's any clear evidence of life on other planets it's this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extremophile (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extremophile). To me it's not a question of whether there's life on Europa or Ganymede, but when we'll find it.
