Title: Joy2Key Fun O.o
Post by: Volusianus on May 06, 2010, 01:57:34 am
Okay, so I had the brilliant idea of connecting my usb Rock Band controller to my laptop while I play UQM. Joy2key was supposed to help with this, but I'm kinda running into a problem with the game not recognizing it? Any help? I realize this should probably go into the technical issues board, but I'm lazy, so if I need to I'll repost it later, but just thought this might make for an interesting twist on Super Melee :P

Isn't joy2key supposed to convert the rock band controller input into key presses?
UQM would then just process key presses as normally, instead of having to recognise the device.
But I wonder whether you really need joy2key. If Windows recognises it as a joystick, then so should SDL (and hence UQM).

Well, yeah, that's what it's supposed to do, but it's not responding at all, which is weird, considering it works with Frets on Fire and the other fabulous ports out there. I'm thinking it might be a driver issue, which I'll explore after this. I'll keep you guys posted to see if this works, if anyone wants to try this in the future  ;D

Have you run UQM without the controller? There is a known bug (http://wiki.uqm.stack.nl/The_Ur-Quan_Masters_Technical_FAQ#How_do_I_use_a_joystick_or_game_pad.3F) regarding this.
